Leah decided she would not be visiting Mr. Howard during her planning period. He would be upset, but he wouldn’t destroy her—not today at least. She felt a sense of relief as her planning came and went and she didn’t hear demands from Mr. Howard by email or over the intercom or from him just showing up. The first day of class was always wild enough—she didn’t need to deal with him.
