"You know, pumpkin," John began with a sigh, "she's kind of right. You're not going to college, and it looks like you don't have a solid plan for the future."

"What?!" Brianna recoiled in horror from the betrayal, "Daddy!!!"

"I'm not saying what she did is right," John defended himself, "but she does have a point on your independence. Put me on speakerphone."

Reluctantly, Brianna put John on speakerphone for Janice to listen to him.

"Hi John," Janice sighed in nervousness.

"Hi Honey," John responded in kind, "what you did was extreme, but I get where you're coming from. How about this? You give Brianna her clothes right now, and we give her a week to find her own place or live with her mom. Then we can talk about measures to encourage her to move out. Do we have a deal?"
