Janette gets a chance to explain herself

Despite having spent more than two days together with Janette since the two had escaped from captivity, Druuna had barely spoken to her besides superficial and gruffly formulated phrases.

Truth be told, Druuna was still wary of her friend after the betrayal which she had committed and the consequences of that betrayal. If nothing else, Druuna?s aching fingers were an obvious example of what that had brought about.

Janette hadn?t made any attempt to address the issue, but appeared awkward and embarrassed each time that their short conversations could have been led towards that subject.

Realizing that they had to talk about it sooner or later, Druuna waited until she and Janette had cuddled up under several blankets in their shelter beneath a tall, wide tree, and then she asked Janette ?Why did you do it??

The question caused Janette to freeze like a dear in someone?s highlights under her blankets, and Druuna could hear the brunette release a sigh, almost looking relieved that the question was finally out in the open.

?It?s my dad?, Janette began and then stopped for a few seconds, wetting her full lips with her tongue before carrying on ?Amicilii captured him and **** me to work for him. He claimed that my dad owed a lot of money and that I was to repay that debt if I ever wanted to see him again.?

The story did instil a sense of sympathy for Janette in Druuna, who began to warm up to her former lover as she went on with her retelling; ?I was to repay it through supplying Amicilii with slaves, most often people that he had picked out, like with you, until my dad?s debt was cleared. ?

?Did you sleep with all of your targets?? Druuna felt ashamed of even asking that, but something within her was dying to know the answer to that.

?No!? Janette cried out, appearing both distraught and surprised by Druuna?s crass question, ?Just you. And that was thanks to those strange berries.?

This caused Druuna to grin faintly, and she decided to do Janette a favour by telling her about how she had tricked her into eating the berries.

?You slut!? Janette almost screamed, although she smiled with all of her face while doing, being happy about the rough bit being over and their relation seeming to warm up again.

?You would have done exactly the same thing.? Druuna suggested before releasing a soft little giggle.

?Probably?? Janette admitted, following up with a ?but still!? while putting one of her hands on Druuna?s thigh.

To feel Janette?s tender touch on her skin again made Druuna feel warm inside, and she shared the brunette?s happiness over their relationship beginning to resume what it once was.
