Chapter 12

Does Jane suspect anything?

Jane admits that she saw what happened

Jane's presence, normally comforting and familiar, now carried an air of tension. She stepped into the steam room, her gaze falling upon John with a mixture of emotions. Her voice quivered as she began to speak, breaking the silence that had settled between them.

"John," she began hesitantly, "I... I saw." Her words hung in the misty air, heavy with unspoken implications.

John's heart pounded in his chest, his stomach dropping as he tried to grasp the significance of her statement. "Saw what, Jane?"

Her eyes met his, and in that fragile moment, they held an unspoken understanding. "I saw through the fogged glass," she admitted softly, her voice filled with a complex blend of emotions.

The weight of the revelation pressed upon John like a heavy stone. He couldn't find the right words to respond, his mind a whirlwind of thoughts and emotions.

Jane's voice quivered once more as she continued, "I saw what happened between you and that woman, John."

The room seemed to close in around them as they sat there, locked in a silent struggle to navigate the emotional turmoil that had enveloped them. John's mind raced with the fear of losing Jane, of the irrevocable damage that might have been done.

Their silence stretched on, broken only by the distant hum of the steam room's machinery. It was Jane who finally broke the tension, her voice laced with vulnerability. "I... I need to know, John. What does this mean for us?"

As the weight of her question hung in the air, John knew that their relationship stood at a crossroads.

How does this situation unravel?
