James did in fact think that he could treat women however he wanted -- respectfully and with mutual care and communication. He felt he did a pretty good job understanding women, although obviously there were going to be aspects of the female experience he couldn't understand without living through it himself. Still, he reasoned, that's going to be true for each individual's experience. Hence the idiom 'walk a mile in someone's shoes', which he tried to do through empathy and understanding; not literally, like by wearing stiletto heels...

James looked down at his feet. Yup. Heels. James sighed. Did that mean 'everything else', too? Yup. Stockings, skirt, blouse, check. He felt around a bit. Yup, a bra and...was that a thong? James got up and tottered over to his closet. At least this was just what he was wearing...yeah, his whole closet had changed. Only women's clothing. Not even unisex, purely women's. 'Just great,' James thought sarcastically. 'It looks like I've got to choose between women's clothing or going naked. This is not going to be fun.' His phone buzzed, signaling another text.
