Jade and Toby talk

The students broke up around a couple of tables.

Toby was pleased that Spencer had ended up at the other table, not the one Toby and Jade were sitting at. He was so annoying.

"A half-pint?!" said one of the students to Jade, playfully mocking her "you're going to have to get that intake if you want to ride with this assortment of cavalier individuals, I'll have you know"

"Nerd" thought Toby. Jade smiled politely.

"Haha, sorry, I'm just such a lightweight" said Jade.

"Yeah, he's just likes to get girls to throw up on him, he's a freak like that, don't mind him" said Toby, about the student who had mocked Jade. They laughed.

"No but seriously, I'm really bad, I would probably throw up if I had a pint or two" said Jade.

"You're just his type then" said Toby. They laughed again.

"Well, I don't think I'll be drinking much more. I don't drink that much at all anyway" said Jade.

"Oh right, did you have a scarring experience?" said Toby.

"Yup, I guess yeah, you could say that" nodded Jade.

"Oh wow, do tell" said Toby.

"Oh I don't know, it's a long story really" said Jade "I just prefer not to drink that much, let's leave it at that"

"Fair enough, I'll try to get it out of you at some other point then" Toby smiled.

They kept speaking into the night. They shared anecdotes about things that had happened since they started univesity. They spoke about the people they lived with and what they thought of them.

"Oh wow, this Jack guy sounds like quite a character, why do you live with him" said Jade.

"I guess in some ways we complement each other. He has this random things happen to him that make it interesting to live with him." said Toby "like just the other day, he bought this thing off the internet that's called 'deepthroat spray'"

"What the hell?" said Jade, looking confused.

"I know... it's the shadiest thing" said Toby "there's no listof ingredientsor anything"

"Oh right, but what is it, like, what does it do?" said Jade.

"Well..." started to say Toby. He thought a second about how he wanted to explain it. He didn't want to sound seedy or crass, he thought that might intimidate her. "well, it's a local anaesthetic that you can spray in your mouth let's say"

Jade looked puzzled for a second, then she laughed.

"Oh right, I thing I get it" said Jade "would be interesting to try it"

Toby gave her a confused look.

"I mean" said Jade "to see if it actually does something, not to try it like...." Jade giggled. Toby nodded.

"Yeah I guess" he said.

They kept talking. The other students and professors started to waddle away as the level of **** in their blood turned conversation from something enjoyable into a chore that made them sleepy.

"I think I best be going too" said Jade, looking down at her phone "I have a 9 am tomorrow"

"Oh right, I think I'll stay for a while" said Toby. He didn't want to leave yet. Jack would have probably bought his date back home. He didn't want to cockblock him. At the same time, he didn't want to leave it at that with Jade.

"What if she doesn't show up again to this meetings" he thought "I better take her number or something."

"Oh cool, no problem, it was nice meeting you" said Jade.

"Yeah you too, erm" said Toby, a pang of nerves took over him "give me your facebook or something, I'll add you" he cursed himself for having been so awkward, why couldn't he have just asked for his number? The more non-chalant he tried to sound the more awkard he felt.

"Oh, yeah sure, I don't go on it a lot, but I'll add you" said Jade. She grabbed his phone and typed her name in it, and sent herself a friend request.

"Okay, I'll see you next week then or whenever this is" said Jade.

"Sure" said Toby, going for a side hug. Jade side-hugged him back.

Jade left.

Toby joined the other table where there were some people still left. He was pleased to see Spencer had left too. he wouldn't have to put up with him tonight.
