Jack

Jane could barely say a word before she was bowled over by a massive figure that pinned her to the ground, causing the woman to hold on to her towel tightly so as not to lose it. The woman looked up as she made eye contact with Eezo, the varren licking her face in excitement. "Okay, Eezo! Okay, stop!" Jane called out as she tried to push the reptilian creature away.

"Eezo! Heel!"

As the varren stopped his **** and leapt off the woman, Jane looked up to see the owner of the voice snap her fingers to get him at her side.

"Hello, Jack." Jane said as she stood up again, using a corner of her towel to wipe the slobber off her face. "To what do I owe the pleasure?"

"Hey, Shepard." Jack replied, "I know it's last minute, but I desperately need a favor."

"What kind of favor?" Jane asked, feeling as though she had a pretty good idea as she eyed Eezo laying between the two women and Jack holding a container filled with food and water bowls, a skillet, and... Whatever the hell it was that varrens ate.

"See," Jack explained, "Miranda booked us for this couples retreat, which I was against at first, but she suckered me into it when she told me..." She paused and cleared her throat, "Fuck, I'm rambling. Anyway, it turns out the resort she booked us for isn't exactly pet friendly, so we can't bring Eezo with us. And, unfortunately, it's also nonrefundable. So, could you watch him for two weeks?"

And there it was.

"I don't know if this is the best time." Jane said as she eyed the varren again, who had now gotten a hold of one of her skillets and began chewing it.

"C'mon! You're the only one apart from me and Miranda that he likes and trusts." Jack pleaded, "And we already asked everyone else! Tali and Garrus are too busy with their wedding plans, Ashley's afraid of him, he doesn't get along with Grunt or Wrex, and he almost ate Chakwas' cat, so you can imagine her answer. You're the only one left!"

"How much is this retreat, anyway, considering that it's nonrefundable?" Jane asked.

"Let me put it like this." Jack replied, "You know how during the war, I never flinched at all the carnage, explosions, and gunfire we were facing even once?"

"Yeah?"

"Miranda let it slip how much this trip costs, and I nearly had a heart attack and passed out."

Jane let out a whistle, her eyes wide. "Yikes."

"Yeah." Jack said. "So can you please keep an eye on him for the two weeks? I swear, Miri and I will owe you one!"

Jane leaned against the doorframe as she eyed Eezo again, reducing her good skillet to scrap metal. She then eyed the tattooed biotic in front of her, staring at her pleadingly. Jane sighed as she shook her head before looking towards Jack again. "Have fun, you two."

"Thanks Shepard!" Jack said as she sat the box down. "Miranda and I owe you one!"

Jane merely rolled her eyes with a smile as she watched Jack walk over to Eezo with a studded collar and a leash, kneeling down to say her good byes. "Now, you be good boy for Auntie Jane, okay?" Jack whispered in an affectionate baby voice that one would give their dog as she scratched his head and put the collar and leash on the varren. "Will you be a good boy for Mommy? Yes you will! Mommy loves her special boy! Yes she does! Mommy and Mama Miri will be back soon."

Jane decided to spare Jack from knowing that she had heard all that, disguising a chuckle as a cough as Jack stood back up and walked over to Jane. "Everything you need is in the box," she listed off, "don't leave anything lying around that you don't want him to eat. Oh! And he hasn't gone on his 'r-u-n' yet, so you may want to get on that after you put something on."

"Why did you -"

HONK! HONK!

"I'm coming, Miranda! Keep your pants on until we get there!" Jack yelled out to her girlfriend in the sky car. She then turned back to Jane and Eezo as she gave a quick goodbye before bolting out the door.

Eezo came up to the open door way as he watched Jack get into the sky car and drive off, Jane grabbing the varren's leash so he didn't get any ideas. She had to hold tightly onto her towel with one hand as she kept a **** grip on the leash with the other

As the sky car disappeared from sight, Jane raised an eyebrow as she thought to herself out loud. "I wonder why she had to spell out 'run'?"

That got Eezo's attention...
