JX - Make a deal with her

"OK," you say. "We can make a deal. What do you want?"

"I just don't want people to treat me like I'm the nerd that nobody wants to be around," she complains.

"It's prison," you say. "Don't you want to be left alone?" You definitely do...

"I don't want to be a loser."

You don't understand her exactly... but you need her help.

"What do I do?" you ask.

"Everyone wants you. You know," she says, looking at your lap. "If they think you are my best friend, that has to help me."

"You want me to pretend to be your friend?" you ask. "That's all?"

"Yes," she says.

You kind of see her... cheerleader, popular girl self coming out a bit. Jessica must have been a bit glamorous before prison. She just wants to feel normal.

"OK," you say.

Pretending to be her friend just means being around her. You join her work detail, sit with her at meals, and hang out with her in the yard... but you do sneak a moment with Jinx near the fence.

"I can get the things you want," you say. "But I don't know how to make the gun."

"If you get them, I can put them together," she assures you. Jinx is crazy and... weird. Can she actually do something as technical as putting a gun together?

"See you hanging out with your new celly," she says, grinning. At least she is not the jealous type...

"She is OK," you say.

"Jessica? She's great," Jinx says, glowing. "What she helped do to that city... I love it. She is awesome."

OK, that's kind of weird... you are guessing that Jinx is not the person that Jessica wants to be popular with.

"Bioterrorism," Jinx says reverently. "I wish I was that hollywood."

You go back to Jessica, who stares at the girl in the watchtower. It's that sniper who comes to work in an olive-green bikini. You are not sure what that's all about, but you do like looking at her. She's a brunette like Jessica, but Jessica is actually prettier.

"I should have done that," she says.

"Done what?" you ask.

"Worn something like that. So I took this job," she says, leaning over toward you. "It's how I got sent here. I only did it because I got to partner with this really hot guy. I should've worn that. Then he wouldn't have blown me off."

"You didn't want to do bioterrorism?" you ask her.

"Not really, but the money's good. My skin care routine is not cheap," Jessica says. She touches her cheek. "God, this sucks being in here. I'm turning into an old witch."

Sure...

"Hey, I got this for you." She hands you an item. It's one of the things from Jinx's list. So Jessica isn't popular with people, but she's good enough with them to get stuff.

Well... it's working.
