Chapter 22 by Bookmite Bookmite

Did she misunderstand him?

It would seem so

James was standing in his doorway when Elizabeth finally managed to get back to his house. She had forgotten that he had a car, and had had to spend the past half an hour fidgeting nervously on a bus. Gasping for breath, she charged up his driveway and grabbed his shirt, surprising the younger male as she shouted.

"You are not going to abort those cubs!"

She stared into his eyes as his face twitched slightly, suddenly twisting into a glare of pure anger. She gasped as he grabbed her arms and literally hurled her into his house, the three felines just behind the door catching and pinning her to the floor. James turned back the group of girl scouts staring up at him in confusion as he smiled down at them.

"Sorry 'bout that," he laughed, "Crazy work colleague, she has no idea what she's talking about, just forget you ever saw her, okay? Oh, and I'll take a box of peanut butter swirls and cinnamon buns, thanks and keep the change!"

The three girls stared at the door as it slammed shut, the note he had thrown at them worth almost twice what the two boxes of cookies had cost. They turned slowly and walked down the drive, one of them turning to her two friends and asking.

"What does 'abort' mean?"

"Well, in one of my brother's games, it means to stop doing something," one of them answered, the other two staring at her.

"So does that mean he's gonna stop some cubs or something?" the third asked, "But aren't cubs like, baby animals?"

The three girls stared at each other in shock, before racing down the street.

Is James happy with this situation?
