"I'm sure I will be very satisfied Senor Sharp," she grins. "And if I am not being impolite to correct you, it is 'de la Ortega'"

"My apologies Senorita. Lo siento."

She giggles at your clumsy Spanish, and touches your arm for a moment. You catch the scent of her, clean and pretty and healthy young woman and you grin in genuine pleasure. You see Emily leaving the room, her head bowed looking morose and miserable, but your attention is focused on the pretty Latina in front of you.

"Sometime my English is not too good," Miranda says with an embarrassed smile. "I do not think I always understand your meaning properly. I am a very stupid girl sometimes."

"I doubt that you're stupid, or you wouldn't be here on a scholarship," you say and see her blush prettily at the compliment.

"Gracias Senor, you are very kind. But I speak the truth. Sometimes I do not understand English so good." She gives a pretty sigh, which makes her shirt move delightfully.

"I'd be happy to help Miranda," you smile. "Any time you want, just come and ask."

"Oh Senor, you are so kind. And you have the office hours soon, you said? Perhaps I could come then and can ask your help?"

"That's right Miranda. At my cottage. I'm going there now if you want to walk with me."

"Gracias senor, that is most kind. I must speak quickly to friend, then I will come immediately. Gracias senor! I will see you soon!" She gives you another glittering smile and a little wave before turning away an leaving the room, her rump swaying under her pleated skirt.
