It goes well

After her Monday night fun, Emily is even more relaxed at work. She now understands what is truly required of her, and can get it done easily, with much time left over. The heat has increased in the building since she started. She asked others she worked with about the dress code. She was told that floor workers get very casual in the summer heat, the only requirements are no shorts and appropriate tops. Her boss told her to not go overboard with apparel. The best example was no more than a few inches of midriff with a regular T-shirt or button style top.

Making sure she understood, she asked for a example. Her boss said he couldn’t give absolute numbers. So she made a physical example. She put one had under her breasts and the other at her belt line, and asked where the cutoff would be. He says he can’t answer that question, as it would be against HR policy. She pushes the issue, saying this is a company policy question.

He hems and haws, but finally says if that dimension was 6”, then the completely safe number would be 3” of skin. Emily asks what the barely acceptable number would be. Her boss tells her he never said this, but 4” of skin might pass the test.

Emily now has the policy figured out, 50% would be fine, and 66% would be the max.
