It's a cop car

Krissy stood by the road, doing her best to affect a calm demeanor as the headlights drew closer. She could tell it was a car, maybe it was someone who had stopped for gas in town on a late night trip. Krissy hoped that this was her chance. If she could just find a half-way decent person to give her a ride out of here tonight, she could start over in the city. Maybe this was her break.

She extended one arm, keeping the other over the tear in her shirt as best she could, and put her thumb out like she'd seen people do in movies. The car started to slow as it approached her, then it flashed it's sirens. Krissy almost jumped out of her skin, she was so startled. The patrol car came to a stop right next to Krissy, the passenger window rolling down as it did.

Krissy felt the warm air as it came out of the vehicle, and she instinctively leaned toward it.

"What are you doing out here in the middle of the night?" An irritated voice asked from inside the car. "Krissy, is that you?"

"Y-yes, sir." Krissy said nervously, squinting into the dark patrol car. "Officer Davis?" She asked timidly.

"Damnit, what are you doing out here? Are you fuckin' hitchhiking in the middle of the night?" Officer Davis said, the disbelief and irritation clear in his voice.

"Yes, sir... I mean Officer Davis." Krissy said.

"Get in the car, I'm taking you back to your folks right now..."

"No!" Krissy interrupted, leaning forward and putting her hands on the door of the patrol car where the window was rolled down. "Please..." She said, realizing she had just raised her voice to a cop.
