Chapter 5 by TheEnemy TheEnemy

Soooo... that's something....

Is that a blue sun??!!!

Talk about a mind fuck, so here I am standing in the dark with a rock in my hand....now what? First of all, I had to figure out how to get that rock to work, then I had to go and save all life as we know it across multiple dimensions, no biggie. Luckily, I didn’t have much time to think myself into a corner because the lights came back on and the door behind me reappeared. The door opened and that hot chick Demia popped her head in. She started running in my direction screaming something I couldn’t quite make out, but she looked pissed. I guess I panicked and thought, 'fuck I gotta get outta here', next thing I know the rock starts glowing and getting hot in my hand. There was a loud rush of air and electricity and suddenly i was somewhere else.

When I finally regained my composure after that whole rock transport craziness I realized I was in some sort of dark, damp, and creepy cave. I could see the entrance about 20 feet away from where I was laid out, seemed like it was nighttime outside. I thought about making a b-line for it, but decided to lay still and quiet for a while. I wasn’t absolutely sure I was alone ,and I wanted to gather my thoughts so I could come up with a game plan. Since it was already dark out there, I wouldn’t be able to make much progress anyway.

I had to do a quick mental recap, apparently I am a fragment of the father god of all creation, I have a magic rock that can transport me to other dimensions , and I have to find 4 more fragments in order to defeat the mother goddess who is actually my lover that I haven’t seen in millions of years...fuck me. It all happened so fast I barely had time to wrap my head around the situation is was in, let alone come up with a plan for this crazy crusade I was thrown into, so what now.

Obviously I was somewhere, I just had to figure out where. The ground I was laying on was soft, mossy, and slightly damp and the air had a mustiness mixed with a sulfur like smell. The temperature was hot, bordering on uncomfortable, and I was sweating just laying still on the ground. The walls had no markings or cave drawings and was a weird shiny black color, It definitely looked like no one had been here in a long time.

I just listened for what seemed like forever, but I never heard anything except for my own breathing, so I started doing some recon of my surroundings. By this time my eyes were adjusting to the low light level, and I could see that this cave wasn’t much bigger than what I originally saw at first glance, maybe 25 feet in diameter and oddly spherical. My first guess was it was artificial, man made maybe, but upon closer inspection I saw that the walls were pretty rough and natural looking. Then I thought maybe some kind of water erosion, but it was still to dark to tell. Two things I did notice though, there was only one way in or out, and there was a small crevice all the way in the back of the cave just big enough for me to slip into. The entrance itself was huge, maybe 15 feet wide and circular. I decided that I was gonna get into the crevice and try to get some sleep, it would be easier to defend myself because I was only exposed on one side, and I would start fresh when the sun came up.

As I laid there failing at sleeping for what seemed like hours, it struck me as odd that Namtar accidentally found out about me. I have a feeling he’s not telling me the whole story. Next time we talk I have a few more questions for him. And another thing, how was he able to speak to me in that hallway in the first place, you would think an operation like that would have all sorts of security measures in place. Well no use worrying about that now, I’ve got bigger fish to fry. Besides, this whole time I’ve been feeling a strange sensation, almost like an inaudible whisper that seems to be coming from somewhere. Maybe I’m going nuts, but I get the idea this is what Nammi was talking about. The whisper is compelling me to follow it.

Suddenly I realized that it was getting lighter outside, it wasn’t that warm, orange color you would expect though. It was more of a blue color, and it was getting swelteringly hot. I was not prepared for what I was about to see when I finally stepped out onto the ledge outside the entrance.

I was on what looked like a cliff face. I was unable to see the rest of the cliff beneath me because the ledge I was on was protruding out over the open air. But I could see that it was a completely vertical drop of a few hundred feet of smooth black rock. On top of that the sun was small, blue, and very close in the cloudless black sky. The landscape spread out before me was full of jagged rock outcroppings of the same shiny black rock as the cave, and every couple of hundred yards there were pools of what looked like molten lava. It was all utterly alien, and frightening to say the least. I instinctively grabbed for the belt knife I usually wore, but it wasn’t there. I had to chuckle a bit, because I had completely forgotten to do a self check to see what kind of things I might’ve had on my person, that’s survival 101 right there. So I went through my pockets and found absolutely nothing, at least I was wearing comfortable jeans and a good pair of boots. Now I just had to figure out how i was gonna get off of this cliff.

Does Dante go up or down?
