Invited to a party

“Hey, Dick,” Madison said. “I’m sorry that the others are laughing at you and everything. I know it can be a bit embarrassing to be caught like that. I was wondering if you’d want to come to a party that I’m hosting today. It’ll just be a small gathering, but it is a sleepover.”

Dick’s eyes widened. A sleepover at his crush’s house. Kaching. “Oh, yeah, sure Maddie. I’ll be there. What time is it?”

“Well, it’s right after school. I understand if you have to go home and get some of your things, but then you can come to my house when you’re done,” Madison said.

“Sure, yeah,” Dick said. “I’ll do that.”

Dick grinned. Maybe this day wasn’t so bad. His stop finally came and he rushed off the bus despite the giggling. He ran to his home all excited for the sleepover. But he stopped as he saw his mom waiting with her arms crossed. He gulped.
