Invite her to breakfast

"So you're a big Tolkien fan?" you ask as you both sit down in the cafeteria.

"Yeah, been reading him since 3rd grade." She answers. "What about you? Do you read much?"

"I haven't had much time for enjoyment reading lately, but definitely something I need to get into."

"Well, I can loan you a few good starter books if you would like." She adds.

"Yeah, that'd be great."

You both take a few bites of your breakfast to distract from the silence.

"So" you both say at the same time.

"Go ahead," she says while blushing. Her pale skin did nothing to hide how red her face was.

"I was just going to ask if you had any plans today," you say.

"Well, I had planned on unpacking, but I guess that's not going to be happening. I guess I'll just hang out in the quad and read."

"Yeah, I guess I shouldn't unpack either, in case I'm the one who has to move. It is a coed floor, after all." You mention.

You see her face start to turn pink again before you add, "at least that means we have showers we can use." Now her face is bright red. You take a bite of your breakfast and quickly try to change the topic to something else.

The rest of the breakfast is a little more quiet and awkward. You can tell she is not comfortable talking about something being "coed."

As you walk back to the dorm, it starts pouring down rain. You are both soaked when you get back to the room.
