Investigate that swamp

"You said the swamp could be dangerous, what did you mean?" you inquire, raising a curious brow while Lenny fumbled meekly for an explanation.

"Well, since I've been here, I've only heard it mentioned once or twice. It's almost like the staff seem to avoid it."

That fact alone gives you a small feeling of hope. "That means Frankenstein's goons won't be patrolling there." It's still not a five-star plan, but for now, the swamp seems to be your best bet.

Lenny suddenly turns as pale as a pudgy ghost, the ruddy color draining from his rounded cheeks. "Only because even they're afraid of the place," he whined, though you dismiss his protests as cowardice. Of course, Frankenstein might already be up to something out there, that would explain the secrecy. But you're not going to say that aloud and risk giving poor Lenny a heart attack.

"Look, you're more than welcome to stay here, but I'm going through the swamp. You've seen what I can do in a fight, there's no reason to be such a chicken." While you don't intend to really hurt his feelings, you've had just about enough of his whining. Sure, the fat oaf gave you some helpful information, but you already saved his life, you don't owe him anything. Sure, he's a mechanic, but that doesn't help you without a vehicle, and certainly won't help once you're knee-deep in sludge. Turning away from your temporary companion, you head off towards the swamp, now visible as a great muddy scar on the landscape.
