Chapter 2
by Razor7826
What should I investigate?
Investigate my own department.
I knew that I wouldn't be able to rest until I knew what was going on inside the cybernetics laboratories. Why was I removed? What is going on with the funding? I had to know the answer, so for the next several hours I scoured all of the data I had on my laptop. I became suspicious over generic references to "Cybernetics Lab", instead of "Cybernetics Lab One", "...Two" etc. Was there a unnumbered lab somewhere? Further investigation hinted that if it were anywhere, it was on basement floor fifteen. Having another lab tucked away would certainly explain the funding abnormalities, but it didn't quite explain why the CEO was so willing to cut me from the project. It was now 2am, so I was hopefully the only staff in the building except for the maintenance crew. With that in mind, I headed towards the elevator and punched in B15. The display asked my for my clearance, so I swiped my security card. Success!
The doors opened on basement fifteen, and I walked out onto the floor. There was a small, empty reception area, connecting two hallways. The distinctive structure made it clear that the right hallway led to the laboratories, while the left hallway led to the offices.
Which way should I go?
