Life Hacks
Hacking into other people's minds
Chapter 1
by Closer11
The future. A constant beacon of hope and possibilities. No one knows what the future will bring, and that makes it exciting.
Change is the only guarantee. But change is never guaranteed to be positive. And sometimes that change can lead the world down a darker path.
It had seemed like such a huge breakthrough when researchers showed the world what cybernetic enhancements could do.
Humans became faster; had to sleep less; but most importantly, became smarter. Brain implants allowed for data to be downloaded straight into the brain and the receiver could process this data much faster than any non-enhanced human could.
It was a drastic change to humanity. People quickly started getting these upgrades to the point of insanity.
Now almost everyone over the age of 18 has been cybernetically enhanced in some way.
I think we can take advantage of this. A few weeks ago I picked up a signal on DataShark. I traced it back to my sister's brain implant. I did some testing and I have managed to change her behaviour. I want to see how far I can push this.
You sign the message with "Mockingbird" and encrypt it. You then send it to your friend.
You spin around on your chair, thinking of all the possible things you could do with this. An idea had been brewing in your head over the last few days. A hacking device that could rewire, or even reprogram, a person and give you complete control over them. If you wanted control over anyone however, you would need to be able to transport your device to get close enough to intercept and transmit the signals. You could probably plant a pre-programmed device on the target, or maybe you could get a little controller implanted into your arm. No real ripperdoc would implant unlicensed hardware though.
Either way, you knew just who to visit for these requests. You grab your phone and dial the number.
Who do you call?

Imagine a future where you are to get cybernetically enhanced just to be able to keep up with the world. And what if these "upgrades" allow an innovative hacker to take control?
