Scratching an Itch

In the middle of the night, in a cave in the monster world, the group sleeps mostly peacefully. Deryl's tireless Chimeras keep guard, but out of an abundance of caution, Amber and Alice are keeping watch. And of course...

I haven't been more than half asleep since first coming through that portal. I never would have guessed of all my animal transformations, the dolphin brain would be the adaptation I used the most... Kind of sucks that it didn't make me super smart though. That might have been cool.

Even half asleep, I feel it before Alice and Amber. Monster energy... A spike which pulls me fully into the waking world, but doesn't seem to alert anyone else, not even Ella's doll... Or maybe she just doesn't judge it worth waking up over. It doesn't seem to be coming at us, but I can tell it's probably not friendly either... Maybe I should just go back to sleep...
