Beta score
Beta score
Year 2100, the world underwent major changes to cope with overpopulation that have made life very different from how we remember it.
It all began in the year 2050. The government imposed a scoring system to classify the population into betas and alphas.
When people reached adulthood, they underwent a series of blood and physical tests that determined their classification on a scale of 1 to 100, with 100 being an alpha and 1 being a beta.
Furthermore, the score determined the kind of life the person could have. For example, having a high score guaranteed you would go to a good university, have a good job, a partner, money, and success, while a low score meant you couldn't aspire to any of those things, limiting you to a simple working-class life.
With this measure, the government ensured that only people with the best genes (the alphas) could reproduce and contribute to society, while for betas, reproduction was much more difficult, as they were considered second-class people.
Thus, our society advanced exponentially. Now the fittest people ruled the world while the useless just obeyed; it was the perfect system.
