On the origin of the pet girl

This will be a story hub that contains stories that are all set in the same world. The idea is to have a timeline represented in the main thread that starts in the Roman Empire and continues into the present (or maybe even the future?) and details an alternative history in which petplay has become an integral part of society.

Each time period will have its own mini story hub containing threads that take place in that time period. I will try to focus on the main thread containing the world-building first, but I have already started writing short stories set in the world. You are very welcome to add your own stories as long as they are set in the same world. I have now finished the main historical timeline, though it is very focused on Western and central Europe, simply to make it easier for me to finish. You are very welcome to expand on that focus and add more lore. The thread is now PUBLIC!

The institution of pet girls and its modern incarnation of pethood has a recorded history of over 2000 years and has gained much of its complexity through both geographic spread and innovations through time. The first recorded instance of women being treated as pets can be found during the early Roman Empire. Among these, the first appears to be linked to a particular Roman senator. He is said to have been well-liked among the upper crust of Rome's elite, in large part due to hosting large and lavish parties as well as orgies. It was during one of these orgies that it is claimed that he employed a number of slaves to act as dogs and cats. The stunt, originally just intended as a novelty, turned out to be extremely popular. So much so that the 'pet' girls became a common staple of his orgies.

The **** girls themselves, soon trained to crawl and behave like the animals they impersonated, turned out to be popular commodities as well. Giving them out as gifts and favors turned into a major source of influence and power. This in turn only served to increase the senators high standing and influence.

It didn't take long for other powerful and wealthy men to imitate this new fad and create their own pet girls. And so an increasing number of slaves were trained to imitate an increasing range of different animals.

With experimentation, these 'pet girls' popularity and the prestige of owning one only increased. While the first generation of pet slaves were simply naked **** girls, crawling and imitating their chosen form nude, further evolutions were fitted with fake ears and tails. More and more accessories were developed, and increasingly ornate designs were produced. Whole industries creating custom-made collars, leashes, and other decorations sprang up.

As their prestige increased, pets no longer remained just fixtures of orgies but increasingly appeared at public events. Their looks, training, and accessories became contests of wealth and style. And with this, the trend of pet girls was introduced to the more general public of Rome.

The next big evolution was undertaken almost two decades after the first appearance of the pet girl craze in Rome. A young patrician from a fallen family unexpectedly began showing off his own pet girl. Strange, as his associates were sure that the poor noble didn't have the means to support a **** girl in addition to his own family.

Which was why the news soon spread throughout high society that the lad had trained his own wife, a pure-blooded Roman woman, into his pet.

It caused an uproar.

Keeping slaves, non-Romans, as pets was one thing. Those barbarians were considered to be uncultured and, honestly, barely human anyway. But treating his own wife, a citizen from a minor patrician family at that, like a pet ****? Many were outraged, and the young patrician soon lost his low-ranking post as a tax collector. That said, while the rich and mighty of Rome felt affronted, the well-off but not quite rich were more open to the idea. It didn't take long for others to copy him. Within only a few years, it became more and more common for the young middle class of Rome to have their wives act the part of a pet during public outings.

Soon enough, even the higher class of Rome started to follow suit.

It was in 99 CE that the now well-threaded tradition of pet girls entered a new stage and spread outside of the city of Rome itself.

The Caesar himself, Trajan, made a public appearance in the senate. At his feet, his wife Pompeia Plotina kneeled naked on a plush pillow with an ornate golden collar adorning her neck. The message was clear and within a week, the senate was no longer filled with senators and their **** pet girls, but instead senators leading their pet wives by their leashes.

Following this public endorsement of the empire, the practice quickly spread throughout the empire. Only 50 years after their first appearance, pet girls had conquered the Roman Empire.
