A magical remote falls into a world that might have been seen from anime, comics, TV (if you still watch those), or some other media.

This remote has all the ususl functions that remotes of these sorts have - pointihg at someone can pause, fast forward, rewind, or mute them, alongside looping an action, changing the volume or their 'channel'.

But these things can also do potentially so much more! Prevent the subject or witnesses from noticing anything, alter objects, clothing or the environment, save a target to use them regardless of where they are, and many other things besides.
