My daughter and I had recently grown apart during the years. Maybe it started when she left for college, or maybe it was when we learned that she wasn't really my daughter and that her real father was the man who drowned alongside her mother when she was a teen, or maybe... Ugh, I suppose it doesn't matter. What matters is that today is the day she gets home from college and the two of us can mend bridges.
