Chapter 6
by ABSOLUTE
What does Terra do?
Introduce Herself
Well... the stranger did save her. And from how much blood coated him and the lack of things coming after them, he seems to have killed all of the creatures.
Hugging the cloak around herself, she looked up at the tall man. Only then did she see the pointed ears escaping his long, sleek hair. She had thought it odd that such a person looked that beautiful. It made sense that he was an elf.
"Thank you." She looked into his bright, blue eyes and saw no reaction to his words. "For saving my life." Still nothing. "Uh... I'm Terra. And you are?"
"Not interested."
His voice was pretty deep, almost authoritative. And yet it was quite nice to listen to. Was this why elves were so dangerous? They were born with such attractiveness to them. And yet, he didn't seem to care for anything.
"That's a funny name." She smiled at him as he turned to walk back to where he came. She was following now, seeing as she had his cloak and bow and arrows back from the leader Husk.
His eyes snapped to hers, almost angrily, making her feel a cold distance move between them. "I'm not interested in your chatting or such. If you wish to really thank me..."
He then stopped and shook his head. It was almost like he wished he never had said anything.
But she knew she needed to make it up to him somehow. After all, he had saved her life. It would be quite rude -and a horrible story to tell later- if she didn't thank her savior. Even if he was a little rough around the edges.
"What?" She egged him on as a campsite came into view, one behind a large hill that had been hidden from the path she had almost been stuck to travel on.
The elf groaned as he realized she wasn't going away. His eyes darted back to her, roaming over her body now. What... was he thinking?
That was when he pushed a bloody blade towards her before seating himself.
"Clean the blade, girl."
"My name is Terra."
"Clean the blade, Terra."
She glared down at the rude man as he warmed his hands around a low fire. But she had no other choice as she tore a bit of fabric from her clothes and began wiping away the blood on the blade.
She spit onto it every once and awhile in order to allow it to shine. This had brought the elves attention to her.
"You... are a strange woman."
She smirked at him, showing that she was proud of not being some fragile creature from Wiggins.
"Yes. Yes, I am." She continued to clean the blade until she was quite proud of it, the elf eyeing her the whole time. Was he intrigued?
"There. Good as new." She smiled up at the elf before hugging the cloak around herself again. Though he was her savior, she wasn't sure if she was comfortable showing him her body... again. He may have been beautiful but he seemed to be quite the brute.
The elf looked over his blade, trying to find any spot that she may have missed. But he found nothing and merely sheathed it again before placing it against the log the two were sitting on.
"Maelinar."
"What?" She was taken aback when he broke the silence first.
"My name. It's Maelinar, but call me Mael."
The sound of the nickname made her chuckle. All "Mael" he would seem.
His sharp eyes found her again, but this time they seemed more inquisitive than his last glare.
"How did you get caught by those Husks anyways?"
"Husks?"
The elf shook his head, as if to say that was something for another time. Terra pouted for a bit, but soon answered his question.
"I was out patrolling my town when they attacked. They almost attacked Mordick, so I had to stop them. But they got me, though I did kill two of their men." She smiled victoriously towards the end, though Mael didn't seem to enjoy the happiness.
"You were still kidnapped and almost ****."
"Thanks for reminding me."
Silence set in except for the crackling of the fire. This allowed the two to relax in each other's company, so much so that Mael offered some of his clothes to the girl. A cloak would not be enough to warm her that night, after all. She gratefully accepted and changed in the tent that he had made earlier.
She knew it was weird to be wearing a strange elf's clothes, but she had no other choice. Instead, she should thank him for thinking of her at all. But those thoughts were gone when she exited the tent. A sword was flung in her direction. Thankfully, her arm was swift and grabbed the hilt firmly.
"Hmmm... So I take it that you can fight," he asked as he grabbed another sword himself. Was he-
"A little. The boys back home would never want to spar with me."
"Oh really? You're not that bad looking."
She glared at him. "For an elf, you're quite crude."
He laughed at that as he rose. "For a woman, you're quite wild."
They both chuckled then before Mael pointed at the sword he threw at her and pointed to a tree not too far off.
"Come. Let us see how well you can do."
Though she felt hesitant at first, she agreed and followed him into the dark. The moonlight allowed her eyes to easily adjust and soon, she could make out Mael's features in the dark.
Without warning, he swung at her. She was quick to dodge and block with her blade, but she was immediately put on defense.
Continuously, he swung at her and yet gave her some openings to strike back. Yet she was too slow to do so.
"Stop! Stop!"
She called out as she held her sword up to block anymore attacks. His swings let up and his eyes kept straight on her face... victoriously.
"You have much to learn, Terra."
"Yeah," she stated, defeated. "I know."
"I think you need to learn the basics again."
She looked up at him, seeing him looking at the tree while lost in thought.
"How?"
How will he review the basics?
