Into Shadow

With that distraction out of the way, Mileena continued on through the mountains. Eventually, she made it to the other side and could see the Great Swamp in the distance across a channel of water. Mileena was unsure of how she would cross the water, but she figured she'd come up with a plan when she got there. Climbing down the other side of the mountains was much easier than the hike up and Mileena soon reached the base of the mountains.

When she arrived at the shore, she looked around for any way of crossing the water and noticed a small raft that had washed ashore. It was covered in algae and had clearly seen better day, but it would serve Mileena's purpose just fine so she grabbed a branch for a makeshift paddle and began rowing her way to the Great Swamp. As she got closer, the air turned foul and a horrific stench assaulted her nostrils. A fog overtook her surroundings and made it hard to navigate the raft, causing her to eventually crash onto the mucky shores of the Great Swamp.

"That could have gone better, but at least I'm finally here." She stepped off the wrecked raft and onto the marshy ground as she began to make her way though the humid swamp. The rising sun shined through the crowns of the vine-covered trees and Mileena realized she hasn't gotten any rest since this whole ordeal started. She was starting to feel weary, but she knew if she took a rest, she would be risking Tanya's **** so she pushed through the exhaustion and trudged through the swamp.

After about an hour of walking, Mileena came a upon a fort made of cobblestone and quickly ducked behind a large tree. She watched as scantily clad guards walked atop the walls with spears in hand, their faces covered by masks similar to her own. She wondered if she could lure one of the guards out of the post and steal their clothes for a disguise. she grabbed a small rock and waited until one of the guards was relatively alone before throwing the rock at a nearby tree. The guard looked over to the tree with alertness and began making her way over without informing the others.

"I love when guards are so incompetent." Mileena chuckled to herself and when the guard reached the tree, Mileena sprung forward and knocked her out. She stripped down and dressed in the guard's skimpy blue outfit. She assumed the outfits were inspired by her sister, Kitana and it annoyed Mileena to think that these fools worshiped such a prissy bitch.

With the disguise donned, Mileena made her way into the fort, keeping her head down so no one would notice her Tarkatan eyes. Inside the fort were a few more rebellion soldiers. Mileena assumed that any others were still likely asleep as it was only just dawn. She carefully made her way through the fort and eventually found a set of stairs leading down to a door. Mileena guessed that it must lead to the dungeon so she began to descend the stairs, but before she reached the door, she was stopped by a voice, "Hey, where do you think you're going? The dungeon is to remain closed until the base commander returns." A muscular woman with short blonde hair stepped forward.

Mileena's eyes looked to the ground as she attempted to channel the goody-two-shoes nature of her sister, "I'm sorry ma'am. I know the woman is our prisoner, but I just thought I'd check on her and maybe get her a small breakfast, if it wasn't too much trouble."

The woman sighed, "I suppose it wouldn't hurt to check on her. Come on." The woman led Mileena down the steps and into the dungeon where Tanya awaited, chained and bound.
