What's next?
Interview goes well
Arron walked down the hallway and stopped for a moment at the HR door, took a deep breath, and then walked in. Inside, the office was rather expansive and well decorated, though rather minimalist at how expansive and ornate the lobby downstairs was. There was a small section that was set for a waiting area with a few couches and chairs, a receptionist position, and several offices along the end of the wall. To the right was a bank of floor to ceiling windows that had a view of the mountains in the distance. Although it was early November, the caps were already blanketed with snow.
All in all, how the hell did he find himself interviewing here?
The receptionist looked up at him and after spotting the packet folder in his hand, smiled and stood up. "You must be Mrs. Andrews? She's expecting you. Please, follow me."
The woman led him down the hall until they reached the office of the Vice President-Human Resources where she promptly knocked. A few moments later, there was a "come in" and she opened the door. "Ms. Thatcher? It's your 10:30, Mrs. Andrews."
He stood quietly as the middle-aged woman looked up from her computer monitor, spotted him, and immediately got up with a smile and walked over with a bright pace and offered her hand. "I'm Elizabeth Thatcher, pleased to meet you. Please, come in."
Arron turned and smiled warmly at the young woman standing next to him. "Thank you for showing me in...?"
"It's Erin, Erin Miller."
Arron blinked in surprise and nodded. "Call me...Alison, helps to avoid the confusion."
The younger woman nodded and after she stepped aside, Arron turned and walked into the office, shaking the woman's hand firmly but with a bit of hesitation. The older woman hadn't lost the smile on her face, if anything it seemed to be more genuine and brighter, and motioned for him to follow her to the desk. "I'm sure you're aware that we had a pretty broad national search going on but no one who applied had the same pedigree and background as you did. We called your references and they were just as we expected."
Arron wondered exactly what was said but kept his questions to himself as he gingerly sat down and then, to make sure he kept as much a feminine appearance as possible, sat back in the chair and carefully crossed his legs. "I'm glad you managed to reach some of them, they are rather busy people."
"Yes, but you understand how important this position is, it pays to be careful." She leaned back in her chair and then looked at him again. "Hospitality is a major part of what we do here, especially since our corporate office took a big chance at opening such a facility here. We're the only game in town, literally, so our choice to direct the department has to be on top of things."
"D-Direct? I thought the position was assistant...?"
Elizabeth misunderstood his shock to be surprise. "Yes, but the position also was put forth to direct the department. It's corporate's way of saying if we had a good prospect turn up, we would think about putting him or her there." The woman leaned forward. "Between you and I, I'm so glad that you applied. This department has been run by men ever since the place opened and it just needs a woman's touch. So much testosterone in one place is just too stifling."
Arron blanched a little but somehow maintained his composure. "I-I bet..."
A few more minutes of talking and then there was a knock on her door as the young Erin reappeared. "I'm sorry for interrupting, Ms. Thatcher, but you have a visitor. Mr. Hunter is here to speak with you and says it can't wait."
Elizabeth rolled her eyes and muttered "of course, men..." and the three of them had a laugh, Arron more **** than the other two, before she got up. "Well, I'm sorry that this is rushed but I want you to know I want you to come here. I would like you to think about it and let me know as soon as you can if you want the job, okay?"
Arron blinked but somehow kept the yelp growing in his throat and instead politely nodded, not daring to trust his voice, before he fell in step with Elizabeth. As they walked into the main office, there were two men standing there, a graying older man and next to him was a slightly younger man. Both turned to notice Elizabeth and then turned with interest at Arron, especially the younger man. "Oh, I'm sorry for interrupting."
"No, that's okay. Jackson Hunter, this is Mrs. Erin Andrews."
Mr. Hunter nodded and shook Arron's hand firmly but gently, something he noticed that men did to him now that he was outwardly presenting as a woman. "The Hospitality Division Director applicant?" He nodded his head. "I'm glad you came, Ms. Thatcher was raving about your resume, that's a rare thing indeed in this building."
Elizabeth blushed a little and he smiled warmly before he turned slightly. "This is Terrance Hill, he's in our finance department as a section manager."
Terrance offered his hand and Arron shook it warmly as well. "Pleased to meet you, hope to see you soon?"
Arron smiled warmly and nodded slightly before excusing himself and walked out. Elizabeth and Jackson had walked down to her office but Terrance lingered just a bit, watching the woman's shapely ass disappearing into the elevator. Damn it, man, you just met her...
