Chapter 19 by gunde gunde

Now what?

Interrogation

“Klytius,” you turn to the young man with his new shield as he stands right next to your left shoulder, “you handled that guard very skilfully.”

Klytius thrusts out his chest a little as he savours receiving a compliment from you, and it seems to you as though he views you as an example to follow.

“Take Calyce with you and head upstairs,” you order Klytius, who grins happily as he nods in recognition of your command.

“Calyce,” you’re sporting a thin smile at Klytius behaviour as you turn your attention to Calyce, once more finding yourself more than a little distracted by her beauty before you manage to regain your composure, “go with Klytius and find your sister, then help him pick out a **** that fits him.”

“Alright,” Calyce manages to say that one word in a way which leaves you feeling blood flow down to your crotch, and you watch her swaying softly as she leads Klytius out of the room and into the staircase.

“He’s young and he killed a guard, so he gets first pick,” you say of Klytius once he’s left the room, and Leonoris grins and nods at you.

“It’s only proper,” he says, making it clear that he has no interest in questioning your decision, “but what are the two of us to do?”

“Well, those merchants looked very rich, didn’t they?” You raise the right corner of your mouth into a predatory grin, and listen to Leonoris chuckling as he understands what you’re implying.

“I would have thought that there would be enough riches for us here in this mansion.” Leonoris remarks with a thin smile.

“Is there really such a thing as enough riches?” You respond with a smile of your own, and the two of you move into the adjacent room, where you left the merchants tied up.

“Right,” you scrutinize the three of them once more as you begin to speak, and again you’re left feeling unimpressed by their appearance, “which one of you is Nicator?”

None of them say anything, but the one furthest to the left looks up at you and then quickly divert his gaze towards the floor again when he realizes that you’ve spotted him.

“Good day Demeter,” you make sure that your voice is dripping with malice as you move up to the one who looked at you.

“I’m rich,” the man immediately responds, and you can’t fail to notice the tremor in his voice, “my family’s rich, they’ll pay a fortune for my release!”

“Well that’s good,” Leonoris comments, sounding as though he’s as unimpressed by Nicator as you are.

Just then, Horris comes barging through the opened doorway, a rushed look present on his face.

“Brennus!” the second of the two younger warriors call out as he spots you, “there’s a group of Galatians by the gate.”

“Right,” you glance down at the merchants and recognize that you’ll have to wait with interrogating them for now, “Horris, I want you to stay here and pick out a sword from those that the mercenaries left behind. I also think that one of them had a suit of armour that should fit you.”

“Try not to scare them too much,” you ask Leonoris, referring to the three soft, spoiled manchildren on the floor, “and go up and pick out a **** that you like once Klytius comes back.”

When you pass through the staircase on your way to the main entrance, you spot Klytius coming down the stairs, leading along a petite dark-skinned girl who looks positively smitten by the young Galatian. Maybe it’s true love?

Behind Klytius and his girl comes Calyce, whose holding another woman’s hand. The woman who’s next to Calyce looks like a younger version of her, with the same hair-colour, the same stunning facial features and the same curvaceous body. You guess that she’s no more than eighteen or nineteen.

“Brennus,” Calyce smiles at you once she’s stopped halfway down the stairs, “this is my sister Calyssa,” and then she turns her head towards her sister, “Calyssa, this is Brennus, our liberator and new master.”

There’s no anger in Calyce’s voice as she says that, and her sister looks more surprised than horrified by the sight of you.

“I’ll be right back,” you promise the two gorgeous women, and then you stumble out into the yard to go see what all the fuss is about.

As you move towards the gate, you find that Leotonis is standing in front of about a dozen of your countrymen, a couple of which are quite visibly wounded.

“Well met,” you greet the men, “I’m Brennus of the Eagle clan.”

“Well met Brennus,” a greeting comes from the man who’s standing at the front of the small group, a tall fellow with a bushy red beard and a sword similar to your own, “we understand that you’re the man who took that bridge.”

“We took it yes, with the help of the poor people.” You reply.

“At last, some of these southern people are actually useful,” the man offers a sarcastic remark, and you smile at it, “I’m Thorus of the Eagle clan.”

“Well met brother,” you say, thinking that there was something about the man that made him seem familiar to you, “it’s good to see you.”

“Likewise,” Thorus grins at you and then scratches his beard, “we were wondering if you’d let us inside?”

You have every intention of doing so, but first you’re going to make it absolutely clear that the women inside belongs to you and your three friends.

What’s next?
