Insecurity?

Mai looked at me a moment before sighing. "...she's so much better then me, isn't she?" the long haired lovely whispered as Ty Lee went about acquiring clothing. I blinked at her in surprise. Snorting, Mai rolled her eyes. "Don't act like you don't know what I mean. ...look at her. So perky, so energetic...meanwhile, I'm a total bore. The only time I seem excited is when I lose control with you..."

Putting my hand under her chin, I made her look me in the eyes. "Mai, I'm only going to say this once. You're out of your mind. Is Ty Lee attractive? Of course. Is she better then you? Not even close." Mai's eyes shot to her chest, but I **** her chin back up. "No, no, no. Those don't enter into it. You're the girl I love, understand that? I won't have anyone dishing trash toward you...especially not you." I gave her a quick kiss to send the point home.

Wiping her eyes, Mai smiled softly. "Thank you, John...but...why? What do you see in me that makes you feel this way?" she asked, seemingly unable to understand it. "First off, I don't LIKE overly energetic girls. Second, she seems to lack much in the way of shame...and you're so cute when you blush..." I got to enjoy that point as my words made her cheeks turn pink.

Smiling, I brushed some hair from her face. "But most importantly...Ty Lee isn't the girl who showed me kindness when everyone else didn't even bother to address me by name," I said. Mai hugged me briefly. "Alright, I get it," she told me, her cheeks bright and the twinkle returning to her eyes. "No need to flatter me to ****."

"WOW! John, c'mere!" Ty Lee called. Sighing, I shook my head. "There's another reason. It's like she's on a permanent sugar high," I said. Mai shrugged. "Like I said, you get used to it. You don't learn to LIKE it...but you get used to it."
