You knock on the door. You know this won’t go well. You don’t care. You didn’t care when you looked up Tina’s address online. You didn’t care when you stalked her on social media to find out that she was recovering from a concussion and resting in bed. You didn’t care when you called her parents and asked if you could visit, saying you were a friend. You didn’t care when you told her mom that you wanted it to be a surprise.

Tina’s mom let’s you in. She looks well kept, but her eyes are wet with old tears. You smile. She takes your jacket and walks you to Tina’s room.

“Hey mom, who was at the-” Tina says. The sight of you stops Tina in her tracks. She becomes practically frozen.

“How was the fall?” you ask. She remains silent.

“She fell and hit her head at the mall a few days ago,” her mother replies.

“Aww you poor thing,” you continue as you lean down and touch Tina’s face. “I hope you’re getting enough rest.”

The mother waits for Tina to speak, but she stays completely silent. The mother speaks up for her. “She’s been resting a lot, but today I think she’s just being lazy, hahaha!” The joke is met with silence by both you and Tina.

You run your fingers through Tina’s hair. “How’s my girl? Hmm?”

Tina’s mother steps up behind you. She is still, observing you closely.

You move your hand to Tina’s belly. “Are we... expecting... any new developments?”

Tina’s mom grabs you by the collar. She tries to turn you around, but she’s not quite strong enough to completely command your body. “WHO ARE YOU? WHAT DID YOU DO TO HER?”

“Hah,” you mutter through a wide, toothy grin. She continues to cuss you out. You hear footsteps stomping in the distance. Closer. A man turns the corner. Blackness.

You wake up in the back of an ambulance. You try to touch a painful spot on your face, but your wrist is handcuffed to a metal bar. There are two paramedics and a cop.

“Hey, what did you do, Chris?” you hear from a disembodied voice. “What did you do to Tina?”

You grin. “I fucked the shit out of that bitch.”
