Chapter 3 by orobanche crenata orobanche crenata

Where do you start?

In your house

You hadn't realised that one of the worst things about a zombie outbreak would be soul-crushing isolation. Having become a bit of a doomsday prepper in your first few years living alone, you've had more than enough food stockpiled, and you can do a fairly good job of keeping yourself entertained during the citywide lockdowns that have become more and more frequent over the last few months.

But you've been so fucking lonely. You boarded up all your doors and windows so the zombies can't get in, but that also means you haven't had any people around either. Even if you were stupid enough to go outside during all of this, everyone's under orders to stay home anyway. Phones and online contact are a no-go as well, since you read online that zombies can not only sense, but are attracted to electromagnetic radiation. Someone commented that that's stupid, because humans literally do not have the biological capabilities to do that, so why would zombies be able to, but you figured they'd probably just been watching too many zombie movies. Either way, you're not going to risk it.

All of that isolation must be taking its toll on you, because you're hearing soft knocking at the door. There can't be someone at the door; Everyone in the city died long ago.

Still, the noise persists, so you decide to look through the peephole of your door. What hurt could it do?

And then, you see a beautiful woman who looks quite badly injured but still very much human - zombies have very distinct mottled greenish-grey skin, whereas the girl at your door is just pale - and your first instinct is to let her in. That she could be bitten barely even crosses your mind, because you're suddenly hit with the urge to just be near her.

Let her in?
