In the bathroom:

You drop your robe on the ground and start the shower. You step in before the water has even warmed up. Just trying to get past what just happened.

You start washing your hair, planning to be thorough in the hope that your mom will get distracted by something. It isn’t a very likely hope, you realize, but a hope nonetheless.

You are only part way through with your hair when you hear the door to the bathroom open.

“I’m just leaving clothes for you.” You hear before your mom leaves again.

You finish rinsing off, then stand under the water for a few minutes longer. Trying to rinse off the sinking feeling in your chest. Eventually you relent and turn off the water. Stepping out you take a moment to dry off, then look at the clothes waiting on the counter for you.
