What’s Melody’s life like.
In the Army now
Tabatha was amazed when she walked into the restaurant. There was a sign on the door. “Special club, no men.” Melody was standing there in the lobby wearing a very green dress. He new memories told Tabatha that Melody was an officer in the army, a Captain.
“Captain Vale” Tabatha said, remembering Melody’s new last name.
“Miss Lane.” She responded in a stern tone before walking up to Tabatha and kissing her.
Tabatha blushed as Melody backed away. “You look fantastic.” Melody said, taking her hand and kissing it.
“Thank you, darling.” Tabatha said before Melody escorted her to thier table.
“You are being quite the gentlewoman.” Tabatha said as Melody helped her sit.
“I miss you.” Melody said “we haven’t slept togther in over a month.”
Tabatha’s mind flooded with images of her relationship with Melody, how Melody had been her only friend to accept her when she came out as trans in high school.
“Congratulations are in order.” Melody said “I hear from the grapevine that Chad’s thesis was accepted. It must be wonderful to be married to a Doctor of Home Economics.”
Tabatha nodded, pulled out her phone.
“Sorry, got to send one quick message to the office.”
Tabatha decided not to wait for her brain to catch up and looked up what Melody was talking about.
“A Doctorate in Home Economics is the highest and only graduate study programs open to men. A man who wishes to ensure a long and successful marriage will spent these years perfecting care of the home and of his husband.”
She realized Chad had gone to grad school to study to be a housewife... more to the point, Chad had wished this for not only himself, but all men. Every man on earth dreamed of being what she knew as a 1950s TV housewife.
Over the course of their meal, Tabatha kept looking at her phone to do further research, because some things were not automatically coming to her.
What does she find?
