Chapter 7 by RedeemerofDark RedeemerofDark

June bugs bring Steely Resolve?

If only for a Limited Time Offer

Joseline didn't have time to debate herself, she tiptoed over to the Atrium she reached inside, attempting to rummage around for whatever it was that was shining so brilliantly, just barely keeping herself from vommiting by swallowing it. Digging through bug corpses was disgusting on so many levels, and combined with the fear of getting bitten the anxiety was risking her letting loose her three meals of the day as well. June found herself rapidly approaching and Joseline froze in place. Now a common and outdated misconception is that when presented with a dangerous situation one will either "Fight" or "Flight" which means they will either desperately attempt to fight something off or will desperately attempt to get away from the danger using the power of adrenaline in both scenarios. Typically this is why people would always give people in horror movies crap for "just standing their" since despite the fact the audience is not nearly as brave as some would like to pretend they are, they still insist its "stupid" to just freeze up. However, it has been recently proven that that is far more realistic then these movie goers ever gave credit for, "Freeze" is a real phenomena and third option where in the event of protecting ones own self interests the body will attempt to mimic a statue as their are no small number of predators that assume a lack of complete motion means either "unappetizing" because they think the creature is dead and sometimes are literally unable to see such a still figure due to how their eyes are configured. As a result this is not only a real and common phenomenon but one that humans and other creatures have evolved to due, its not evolution's fault that the horror movie and its monster and/or antagonist doesn't fall for this.

This is all to say that Joseline isn't freezing up because she "doesn't know better" but rather because that's just the type of reaction her body chose to use to accommodate the threat in mind. Through this icy lack of movement Joseline prayed for the spider not to bite her, for June to leave her alone, or to find her uninteresting and move on...sadly Joseline was not this lucky, as she would quickly learn when she felt her arm ripple like water and felt the spider...INSIDE HER?! She would hyperventilate but she was still frozen, as if under the impression that this magic spider would just lose interest of her insides and move on from her life, Joseline was seriously debating a career change, praying even harder that if her organs could not get bitten she'd be more then happy to change her ways and attempt to start a new life, that she had never been more scared again and had gotten the hint. So imagine her surprise when she stopped feeling the spider...she...she...stopped feeling the spider in her arm?!

When you turn a new leaf doesn't it typically have a different color to it?
