ITSY BITSY MY ASS!!!!!
Looking down at the city below from her vantage point sitting atop one of the Chrysler building’s sloped surfaces and using the antennae to lean against, Susan took another bite out of her dark chocolate bar. Out over the horizon the sun was going down and dust was setting in. In those hours when she left home early to blow off steam and now, Susan had stopped a bank robbery, two muggings, a series of petty thefts and helped pull a lost cat out of a tree. Taking another bite out of her chocolate, Susan admired the view.
“I wonder if Spider-Man has afternoons like these.” She sighed, swallowing the bite of her candy bar, and taking another. “Tired, frustrated, and sore… Well, at least the view is nice.”
Reaching for another bite, Susan looked down to find she was all out of chocolate. Frowning, she crushed the wrapper in her hand and pressed it against the side of where her beltline would have been, the suit swallowing up the wrapper until she could toss it away properly. Getting to her feet and stretching her arms out like she was at a diving board, she jumped off the surface of the skyscraper and free fell down to the streets, pointing out her hand to fire off a thread of black webbing and swing across to the adjacent street ahead to get more chocolate.
Flipping in the air twice and reaching out with her other arm to sling to the next block, Susan mulled over the morning and what happened between her and Reed. She wasn’t mad with him, not really. She knew it would have taken a crowbar to pry him away from a microscope. She was REALLY made about her hero’s name given to her. Landing on the top of a streetlamp, Susan huffed and sat with her chin sitting between her hands.
“Maybe I’ll make it up to him, have dinner with him with the dress he DIDN’T see.” Smirking, she took on a sly grin. “And then maybe Mommy Long Legs will satisfy another sweet tooth she…”
Hearing a cry for help just a block away, Susan sat up looking in the direction she heard the scream comer from. Spotting someone being pulled into an alleyway between a shop and pizzeria. Getting to her feet, Susan wiped her hands and jumped off the lamp post to investigate.
“Well… There ain’t no rest for the wicked.”
Swinging towards the alleyway and shooting out to lines of webbing from both hands to launch herself into the narrow passage at full speed, Susan’s eyes went wide as saucers when the overhead fluorescent lights of the pizzeria’s back exit illuminated who had snatched up the poor man off the street. She was expecting a group of thugs, maybe a creep or two or even maybe a D lister villain. A trio of human sized arachnids hissing at her while still webbing up the panicking man muffling out a cry for help with his face webbed up. Suffice it to say her reaction was understandable.
“HOLY FUCKING SHIT GIANT FUCKING PISS CAKE SPIDERS!!!!!!!!”
Somehow, she didn’t know how or why, her back sprouted a tentacle that snapped out from her like a bullwhip and latched onto a gutter pipe, giving her the halt she needed to stop dead in the air and slingshot back where she came, split seconds from the mandible laced jaws of one of the creatures snapping shut where her head was. Landing at the brick wall where her tentacle latched onto and disappeared back into her suit when it wasn’t needed anymore, Susan fired off a spray of black cobwebs at the three giant spiders, making the creatures hiss and flail their many limbs in protest until they dropped their prey to the ground.
The lead one of the three pulled the black webbing off its many pearl-smooth eyes and hissed a drooling screech back at the woman.
“KILL IT WITH FIRE!!!!!!”
Reaching out with both her hands, Susan tried to raise a forcefield up to protect herself when the three began to scurry up the building to reach her. Only to gasp in horror when they skittered past where she thought she put the barrier. Crawling up the wall as fast as she could and jumped to the ceiling to run, she looked over her shoulder to find the creatures still chasing her. Panicking, she tried to make herself invisible, but when she looked down at her arms, they were still within sight. A terrible thought came to mind as she found herself cornered on the roof of the building.
“My powers… They’re gone!”
She only had a split second of reaction time to bring her arms up to guard her face when one of the massive arachnids tackled her to the ground and pinned her there, her hands, somehow on their own had grabbed hold of the dagger sized fangs as they twitched and dripped venom from their razor sharp tips all over her neck. She wanted to scream, she wanted to inhale so she could scream but she knew if she dropped her guard for even a split second to inhale, her arms would go slack. Just as inhuman as the creature was in appearance, so too was it’s strength! It took all she had to keep up with it as it tried to press down and bite down on her throat. Not including the other two giant spiders just chomping at the bit to have their own turn sinking their teeth into her. but what could she do? Her powers were gone, and right now she never felt more afraid and helpless.
Darting her eyes over to the other two scuttling around to either side of her while the one on top of her scratched and stamped with its many claws to make her relent, she thought this was the end, until the suit shot out a quartet of tentacles that speared into the spider’s underside… But not to hurt it. Looking down, she found them doing the same thing her suit did when she found that injured bank robber, lathering and injecting something into the creature, who suddenly stopped in its attempts to bite her to twitch and go stiff. Before her eyes, the creature began to change, transform into something different as its legs began to atrophied, and sink into its body, the fangs in her hands shrinking back as teeth sprouted and dulled in its mouth. Slumping down on top of her like a dead weight, the creature continued to change, developing hands and feet, its glossy eyes disappearing except for two which blinked and looked around. In a matter of seconds the massive arachnid had completely transformed back into a human being, the man collapsing **** on top of Susan as the tentacles finally pulled out of what was now his stomach.
“Okay… That’s diff…”
Reacting out of instinct, she caught the next attacker before it could bite the man she returned to normal. Holding back four of its legs where its mandibles and fangs snapped an inch away from her chest.
“No, you DON’T bucko!” Looking over her shoulder, she spotted the other arachnid monster skitter forward to attack, outstretching her arm, she allowed the suit to grow tentacles from her arms and back, impaling the two attackers as they were caught in place, twitching as her suit injected them with… Whatever it was pumping into them. Just like the man now sitting up groggy and confused, the two spiders began to twist and change, losing limbs and redefining others as their bodies reverted back to what they used to be.
Breathing hard and feeling drained after the act, Susan looked down at the three people she had cured of their spider mutations; two men and a woman who looked around and quickly tried to cover themselves with their regained hands.
“WHAT THE HELL?!”
“Where am I? Who the fuck are you?”
“Where are my clothes? Is it NIGHT?!”
Regaining her strength and standing up straight, Susan looked down at the three people she cured and found herself a bit surprised when they all looked up at her from the ground. Putting on a confident pose, her suit gave her high heels to stand taller as she rested her fists at her sides.
“Who are you lady?”
“Me? I’m just your friendly neighbourhood Mo…” Snorting and shaking her head, Susan corrected herself. “I’m the one who brought you back from being giant monsters, I’m the cure. You can call me Lady Anti-Venom.”
Impressed, the three continued to cover themselves as they looked around the city at night, leading one to sneeze at being cold.
“You got any spare clothes there, Lady Anti-Venom?”
