IR Day 17 - Game day

You are very wrapped up in your own personal drama as Friday begins, but you can’t help but feel bad for Zofia. Zofia is another of these people who stick out a bit at FUTA, as she is obviously not a lifelong soccer enthusiast.

But she’s competent and just wants the team to be organized and sensible. She’s fair, she’s not as scary as she acts, and you really like her. Which is why it must suck so bad for her to be stuck with Karin as a captain. It must drive her crazy that someone with so much athletic ability is also such a mess of insecurity. Karin should be Zofia’s star, but instead, she’s the biggest obstacle to Yellow Team’s success. Zofia probably secretly wishes that someone would unseat Karin as captain.

That’s what you plan to do, but the job in front of you is so difficult that you aren’t feeling very sure of yourself. Yellow Team has some good players, and on top of that it has some girls with very steady nerves. Even so, there’s a sense of discomfort leading into the game. It’s not all Karin’s fault. FUTA did this when they introduced this stupid trading thing. They took it too far.

You’re in your own world as you put on your yellow uniform. Zofia has made a last-second change to put you in the midfield to keep you away from Karin. She’s afraid that if you’re on attack, Karin will feel threatened and screw up.

Every week, FUTA gets more flamboyant. The field is fancier, the music is louder, the crowds are bigger because they keep adding to the stands… it was originally just a few bleachers because this isn’t supposed to be a live event. Now they’re treating it like a pro game.

It’s hard to see Pink Team like this. Even harder, knowing what you have to do. You’ve cracked the code. You can get away with **** at FUTA. These refs will look the other way on any degree of savagery, and that’s your ticket to taking Karin down. Unfortunately, that doesn’t work against Pink Team. You are not about to injure your former teammates. That means that if you want to get attention and steal MVP status, you have to do it fairly.

But… you have a secret weapon for this as well. Being placed in the midfield won’t stop you. You keep your expression hard and neutral as you come face to face with Pink Team before the game begins. You don’t want them to think that you’re up to anything, and FUTA seriously fucked up when they did this. They didn’t predict that someone might be salty about a trade, and there are no protections in place against collusion in this situation. They’re going to realize their mistake today because you are not the only person unhappy with these trades. They will quickly change their MVP rewards and do away with the trading, but it’s too late for them to do that for this game. This is your only chance to get off Yellow Team.
