I would prefer a different setting.

Very well then...

To Germany, near the Swiss border, where an ancient house stands on a hill overlooking the small town of Markenhause.

Within its walls of moss-covered stone and rotted wood, there dwells a vampire, Lady Eldir von Drakhof. "Perfect as a diamond, with clothes black as a raven's feathers at midnight and flesh like a pearl, but with a heart black as coal (which is coincidentally made from the same substance as diamond, namely pure carbon)", according to the work of the noted poet and chemist Dichter Chemiker. She (it's a she, by the way, he wasn't gay) is, according to the area's folklore, a dabbler in the dark arts of necromancy and demonology, a seductress without peer and the former queen of the entire valley, living on now through her cursed blood. The many Italian tourists and German students who visit this town dismiss it as fairy tales. They pay to visit the ruined manor house, to see the faded grandeur.

But she lives. Unbeknownst to the vampire hunters, who burned the manor in 1876 (it's listed in the village records as an "unexplained fire"), there is a network of tunnels, cellars and caverns running beneath the house and throughout the hill. One tunnel led to the basement of a village tavern, allowing her to escape the fire and later return, to continue her work in secret.

Her work?

None other than the task of binding a Greater Incubus to her will. This feat of demonology has only been performed successfully once, by the notorious vampiress and demonologist Cleopatra (yes, the pharaoh), and would allow Lady Eldir to take over the whole of Europe - if she succeeds.

Her gathering of resources has not been as stealthy as she would have liked, though. Three separate hunters of supernatural beings have found part of the picture, and have set out to prevent her rise, and if possible, turn her to dust...

And then there's all those clueless tourists...
