Chapter 6 by ElizaLariana ElizaLariana

What kind of birth control should I use?

I take them up on their offer of this experimental birth control feature in my implant

“Seems like I have little to nothing to lose,” I blurt out.

Angela stops me and reiterates, “Much of why this is experimental is that you might get some side-effects that might make your life as a woman a bit difficult. A small portion of it we can disable, but another side-effect may take its place. And let me mention that the transformation has a small chance of becoming permanent, even without the prerequisite of you becoming pregnant. So, I’d say, all things considered, the least you can lose is your manhood.”

“Are you sure you want to go through with this? It is your body, of course,” Ms. Stephens reminds me

“If it gets rid of the possibility of me becoming pregnant and eliminating my periods, not to mention the added benefit of not having to daily take anything or putting anything on before sex, then I’d say, go for it!” I tell them.

"That’s the spirit, Miss Gibson!", the implant specialist says. "There's actually two different options we can try out. They both only work now, before your first menstrual cycle has started. If you ever decide you want to conceive, just come in and let us know. We can trigger you to start ovulating that day. But we won't be able to reactivate these options after your pregnancy. So you'll have to use one of the traditional means after that. The first option works as intended about 75% of the time. If it works for you, then it will be as effective as taking the pill, except you never have to worry about forgetting about it. And sometimes it's even more effective.". She doesn't go into details on what happens the other 25% of the time.

Ms. Stephens speaks up to present the second option, “Birth control is a frequently requested feature, especially in college settings, so our engineers have been working to improve this feature's effectiveness. They have a new version available that is 100% effective at preventing pregnancy. But there is a 50% chance it can generate some other unrelated side effects. If you definitely don't want to get pregnant, then this is the option for you. Though, if you are wanting to change back after graduation, you might want to think hard before choosing this option. Causing your change to become permanent is one of the possible side-effects, as Ms. Angela has mentioned earlier.”

Angela takes over, "With either, there have been some reports of increased sex drive. But it's hard to determine how much of that is because of the birth control option directly, and how much is just because of the freedom to have fun without the risk of pregnancy. I'm sure it's mostly the latter. But more importantly, both options' contraceptive effects start immediately. And after a month or two, your periods should stop or become much lighter as well. And, if or when you ever decide you want to conceive, just come in and let us know. We can trigger you to start ovulating that day. We won't be able to reactivate the experimental option though, so you'll have to use one of the traditional means after that."

Which option do I take?
