Chapter 8 by MidbossMan MidbossMan

Under what guise will I meet Lucifer and where?

I meet her as the demon, Hip, one of Beatrice's servants in the manor's kitchen

I hope you won't laugh when I tell you that the stories of magical being swordplay and magic always fascinated me in the tale of Rokkenjima. Let's face it: demons are cool. I'm not too old to say that. I'd never imagined becoming a demon myself, but given the option, I had to take it. As the contracted demon, Hip, I would be in a prime position to meet Beatrice and all of her minions.

But damn, she has a lot of minions. If you follow Beatrice around, it's a party all the time; an endless field of witches wherever you look. This is especially true of the Seven Stakes of Purgatory. Every now and then, you'll see her summon just one, but even when they split up, they always seem to go in pairs or something goofy like that. I don't really want an audience while I try to get a hang of this demon thing.

As such, perhaps ironically, considering I'm a demon, I considered it divine providence when I found Lucifer alone in the kitchen. Her jet-black hair and long, soft legs made her look like a traditional beauty; her fangs and blood-red eyes, however, is what made her a true demon, perfect furniture for the witch. That red uniform of hers had driven many a young man into the Witch Hunters, once some artist got around to illustrating his interpretation of it. It's such a shame that so often, she loses that body to kill people... a cruel twist of fate, along with a cruel twist of the stake.

There was no sign of the head chef, Ghoda, nor any of the other servants. What was she doing here, so far ahead of time? If it was the stake of Gluttony I'd understand, but she was the prideful one. I approached her, eager to find out. When I asked the question, she gave me a haughty look... it didn't seem I had earned her trust yet, just because I was a fellow servant of Beatrice.

"What do you care? It's not like there's anything to do until Lady Beatrice's ceremony starts tonight." Saying this, she scoffed, tossing her shining black hair over one shoulder and regarding me coldly. "A novice demon like you ought to mind your own business. Get some rest and relaxation before we get busy, okay?"

Ha, now she was acting like the older sister type. Well, I did hope we'd get busy soon, but not with the killing she was imagining. I had to guess what was on her mind. Something insightful would help me get a conversation started. Maybe my Pink Trigger could help?

What should I ask Lucifer?
