Chapter 9 by Spars2023 Spars2023

What's next?

I clicked back to the store and began to browse.

A whole section at the top of the store was entirely grayed out, with the label: Most general Physical and Mental Enhancements not authorized as creation of Superheroes/Supervillains is controlled by Editorial.

That was...worrisome. But that 'most' was interesting. And frankly, I didn't want to be either a superhero, or supervillain. So I scrolled down a bit. The only physical modifications were appearance based. And most of those were genital modifications. I was reasonably well endowed, and had no desire at the moment to be hung like a horse, either metaphorically, or literally.

Also, I wasn't trusting the crazy magic machine with my dick. Which made the fact that I was strongly considering the mental options sort of crazy. I guess I care less about my brain than my prick?

A few options were more practical, there were things that would protect against **** (Veins of Iron), or poisons (Stomach of Iron), with warnings about how those would interact with drinking and medical treatment, as well as things which would alter my own pheromones', making me more attractive to anyone who might be attracted to me (note, were any of the supervillains in Arkham gay? I didn't want to make my life harder) but also more visible...and all of those were expensive, except the pheromone one. It wasn't subtle how much the app was pushing this in a sexual direction. I wasn't opposed to that, but I was also...wary of what its intent was.

On the more reasonable side, were a few which jumped out at me. App? What App?, I am not your ****!, Privacy, please, and Who needs phones?

They all seemed straightforward. App? What App? would keep me from accidentally revealing the app, and keep any telepath or technopath from just discovering it by accident, and anyone who just happened to look over my shoulder when using it would just see a game. It wouldn't stop an actual investigation. Might be worth its 1 credit cost.

The next was some sort of undefined 'resistance' against mind/body control effects. Given the wording and its cost at 2 credits, it wasn't obvious what it did, or how much use it would be.

Privacy, please, was more promising, as it was complete immunity to telepathy. But it also came with a warning: This perk is noticeable to outside parties and may prompt investigation, kidnap, vivisection or experimentation. Purchase at your own risk. Oh, right, the rest of the universe would be interested in someone who had such abilities...

Who needs phones? was weirder and more potentially useful given my situation, but also cost 5 credits. It would apparently let me access all Submission Accelerator functions from my mind. Though I would still need to keep the phone intact, as it was just accessing the phone's systems. Given I couldn't take the phone in to work, that would be helpful. As would more immediate feedback about what was getting me submission points.

Then there were App Purchases. Peek behind the gray, I need a hint, and then there was also App? What App?, Encryption, Baby, and Who needs phones? again, amongst other greyed out options.

Peek behind the gray was tempting. Two credits to sometimes randomly see currently locked information/options. But, as it made clear, I couldn't just grind, it would be randomly selected once and there was no quick-loading to get a second chance if you got useless information. But it could be purchased repeatedly...without information on the odds, it was hard to tell if that was worth it.

I need a hint was more useful as a growth boost, as it would provide hints for the most achievable achievements. But it cost all 4 of my current credits. The other achievements weren't grayed out, they just didn't show up at all, so I wasn't going to be able to get that info from Peek.

Encryption, Baby was **App? What App?**'s big brother, offering full encryption of my phone, which would protect it from any external intrusion...but that would be very visible and only work on my end. Though maybe there were upgrades to that too? Still, 5 Credits was too high a price at this point.

Then there were the target options...

Lots of appearance, or clothing options, but those were just early unlocks. I assumed there were mental, or magical options later, but if I increased their submission score, they'd dress however I wanted. Also, it wasn't overriding reality, just affecting how they'd dress/look when they get out, as they weren't getting their pretty outfits in Arkham. Not worth it.

But there were a few other options, as well as a lot of grayed out ones. Orgasm Lock, was obviously interesting, as was Weak in the knees. The former would let me prevent a target from orgasming, either at all, or any time without me participating. It looked like there were other options, but they were grayed out. Either way, it only worked if I'd made them cum within 24 hours, so no locking Asa's orgasms...which was a mean thought that I only barely pushed to the side. Given its limits, the 2 credit price seemed a bit steep, but pleasure was a hell of a motivator...

Weak in the knees was also interesting, but had its own set of stringent criteria to apply. The target would be massively weakened, to weaker/less skilled then however weak I was, but only if they were extremely aroused, had a positive submission score, and we were alone. And at 3 credits...not worth it now.

Then there were the obviously sexual ones:

Disease is soooo 90s: Immunity to STDs for yourself. This does not cure diseases active at acquisition: 1 Credit

Downtime is for servers: reduced recovery period before you can have sex again: 3 credits.

And repeats of most of the sexual appearance options for me. Right at the bottom of the screen, was an uncategorized option, Parley. I clicked it out of curiosity.

Parley: You got your ass kicked. Badly. Maybe next time, you should just surrender. Parley will let you negotiate terms, but won't help you much (you will be able to get 'no **** and no ****,' anything else, you have to earn) with them. So long as you don't violate the terms, neither will whoever you negotiated with. They'll also actually negotiate, rather than merely attack you, but don't think you can drag out negotiations indefinitely, or use this to keep someone trapped and talking.

Only 3 credits to keep my ass alive? Yes, please!

AN: Any ideas for other perks which should be purchasable/rewardable? There's a lot more to come, as I've got about 40 more chapters already written, but I am editing as I go, so good ideas may be incorporated. This page may be updated, or they may be 'greyed out' now and added later.

What did I buy?
