Chapter 3 by glc0n

What's next?

I call my girlfriend

One thing I could rely on was Naomi going out on a Friday night. A couple of hours later she was already out the door. I wasn’t sure exactly what I was going to do to get even, but I wasn’t in a rush. I relaxed with some gaming, but after a bit I called Emma to check in.

“Hey babe.” I tried to sound alpha, I don’t know if I succeeded, but Emma always let me get away with it.

“Hey Alex, how was moving in?” Emma’s warm voice always brought a smile to my face.

“Not too bad. Naomi was a total bitch. As expected.” I tried not to sound too gloomy, but Naomi’s bullshit had taken a lot out of me.

“You guys are going to have to learn to get along.” She was right, but I don’t think anyone knows Naomi like I do.

We spoke for a couple of hours. She asked about my new place and what I was expecting for work on Monday. I asked her about her courses; Emma was a year behind me in university. She didn’t live too far away, and I was expecting to see her as soon as next weekend. I didn’t have much experience dating, let alone anything long distance, and we hadn’t been going out for that long. But Emma was my first relationship that last longer than a handful of dates. I was determined to make it work.

We started talking about Naomi too. Emma encouraged me to get along with her, to try and find some common ground. I don't think she really understood how long our fighting has been going on, but Emma was always so supportive and optimistic. I guess most other guys would say Emma was more cute than hot. To me she was perfect: beautiful, funny, sweet and kind. We talked for hours before we exchanged good nights and promises to see each other next weekend.

After we hung up I laid down in my bed for a few minutes before suddenly remembering I needed to get back at Naomi. I checked the clock on my phone. 12:48. Shit! She could be back soon.
