Chapter 4 by vanillathunder vanillathunder

What do I say? Do I agree? Or do I refuse?

I agree

“Fine.” I sighed. “I’ll do it.”

“You will? That’s perfect!” Brooke happily clapped her hands. “I thought I’d have to twist your arm a little more, honestly.”

“Well, I love my sister, I guess.” I shrugged. “So when does this start? Immediately?”

“As tempting as that is… How about tomorrow? Drop by an hour before school starts, that should give me enough time to have Daddy draft up a contract.”

“A contract?” I questioned.

“Duh, you think a verbal agreement is good enough? Just a sweaty handshake and we’re good? Absolutely not! For a Sawyer, no agreement is worth anything without a contract. It’s a standard thing, nothing devious.” Brooke replied. “Now, enjoy your last day as a free man…”

I left Brooke’s house feeling uneasy and returned home, where I found Erin sulking on the couch. That’s what she did a lot nowadays, but I hoped my news might be able to brighten her day.

“Hey, Erin!” I said as I walked in the door. “How was your day?”

“Good, I guess.” Erin shrugged as she barely paid attention to me, more focused on the show she was watching.

“Well, I’ve got some good news. I might have a lead on a ticket for a certain concert that you want to see.” I grinned.

“What?! Really?” Erin’s face lit up and she rushed off the couch to embrace me in a hug.

“Woah, woah, I said *might*! Nothing is guaranteed yet, so don’t get your hopes up.” I insisted.

“Either way, you’re the best brother ever.” Erin said, smiling.

Whatever happened next, it was definitely going to be worth it.

What happens at Brooke's house the next morning?
