I’d better get back to work
I heave myself up. I’d better get on with it, I tell myself. Myself doesn’t really want to listen, but it doesn’t matter. I’m out the door before I can change my mind.
As I pass Apt. 103, it occurs to me that it’s been a while since I knocked on that door. Someone might be home now.
