Chapter 12 by MidbossMan MidbossMan

How will I get out of Kumasawa's chat?

I'll knock out the generator (Pink Trigger's Power >49)

This problem was a simple enough one to get around, with the cunning application of magic. Rather than hear about the witch, I think I'll perform a little witchcraft of my own. I turned towards the entrance for a moment, mostly to hide my profile, then gently snapped my fingers.

Outside the guest house, but near to the walls, a bolt of lightning suddenly struck from the sky. It was pink rather than white, matching the color of my magic. You're wondering if I can summon such a powerful attack as a bolt of lightning, why have I not used it to defend myself in times past? The truth is, it's a skill that works mostly on a stationary target; a fixed piece of the environment, really. Plus, I can't kill, so I have no idea what would happen if I hit a person with it. There is one thing I can kill without worries, though: the generator providing power to the house. Suddenly, all of the lights went out in the house.

Kumasawa wouldn't be making that tea after all and I suppose Maria wouldn't get to watch TV. I vaguely imagined I could already hear her pouting and crying "Uuuu, uuuuu!" with irritation upstairs. Sorry, Maria, but that may actually provide a pretty good distraction.

"I swear...! The generator would fail on today, of all days, when I have guests in the house...!" Kumasawa complained. It didn't sound like she was moving from the kitchen, though. I guess no matter how familiar she was with the place, she couldn't risk tripping over some low table and throwing out her hip. "Don't worry, Player, Gretel... I'm sure Kanon will get the back-up generator running quickly..."

"This just seems stupid to me... You can't see in the dark either, right? So what are you going to do?" She was whispering which, in a way, was pretty polite of her. It made me wonder what would happen if someone heard one of these strange conversations between the two of us, regarding my story.

At any rate, don't be silly, Gretel... My love thrives in the darkness. Allow me to demonstrate...

How will I use the darkness to my advantage?
