It seems you have wound up lying on your face in the dirt. Apparently, the portal's trajectory was a bit off and ended up depositing you several feet above ground-level leaving you to fall and become ****.

"Hey! Listen!"

You look up and see a tiny ball of light with wings hovering above your head. It seems that this is the creature that has been talking to you.

"There is little time to lose... You must go rescue the princess from Ganondorf's evil clutches."

Well, it appears you have been recruited to rescue a princess soon after landing in this new realm. Might as well get to it.
