Hypnotic Bracelets

Samantha was on her way to the library. She had researched what was on the syllabus this year and wanted to get a head start. The thought of maintaining her grades fresh in her mind, especially after what her mother had said earlier. Unfortunately for Samantha she was too busy dreaming about lying on a beach to take in her surroundings.

There was a saying at her college. It went: You need to avoid those three, it's as easy as ABC. The A stood for Anna, the B stood for Bonnie and the C stood for Chloe. These three girls were trouble with a capital T. It was rumoured that Mrs. Harts' breakdown was due to them. Most people knew to avoid them, including Samantha.

Samantha was in her own world. However her world was on a collision course with theirs.

"Hey! Hey you!". Samantha was snapped out of her world when she heard someone shouting. Samantha looked around to find where the voice was coming from. When she saw who the voice belonged to she swallowed hard. "Come here," ordered the voice, "We want to show you something."

Samantha didn't want to go over but knew that refusing would only make things worse. The girls had never bothered her before so she hoped that they genuinely wanted to show her something.

"Don't I have maths with you?" Bonnie ask as Samantha approached.

"Yes," responded Samantha, trying to keep the nervousness out of her voice.

"Cool," said Bonnie but it didn't sound like she meant it. "What do you think of our new bracelets?" All three girls started showing off their bracelets.

"They’re nice," said Samantha, trying to end the conversation as soon as possible. She was trying not to stare at them.

"Just nice?" Anna asked.

"Very nice," said Samantha slowly. The way the bracelets caught the light was quite hypnotic.

"Whose is the nicest?" Asked Chloe.

"The nicest," replied Samantha, never taking her eyes off the bracelets.

The girls smiled at each other.
