Hunt for the Enmity

It has been three hours of following the trail left by the Grimm he was chasing; Dolan noticed the bodies of multiple Beowolves and Ursas slowly disintegrating away clueing him in that the creature was recently here due to the fact the other dead Grimm hadn't yet fully disappeared. He had to admit the name of this particular Grimm was very fitting, 'Enmity' refers to a state of being hostile, and judging by the dead Grimm scattered about Dolan could tell quickly that it doesn't give a fuck who or what is in its way whether you're a Human, Faunus or even another Grimm it will beat the dogshit out of you regardless. There was a rated 'E' for everyone joke right there but Dolan wasn't in the mood for jokes right now. He was hoping to spend his day off in peace but now that ship has sailed straight into an iceberg and is taking on water so now it was time to vent some frustration and that Enmity was to be the perfect target.

As Dolan went further into the forest, he could feel eyes on him and not the "Oh hey that guy is kinda hot" set of eyes but more of them, "I'll put you in the dirt" set. As he turned his head expecting the Enmity to charge him, he soon realized the creature behind him was not his intended target but rather a King Taijitu a snake Grimm with a second head at the end of its tail which always made Dolan question as to where this fucking Grimm's stomach would be if the other end of the Grimm is just another head? Putting that question aside for the moment Dolan prepares to enter a battle stance when out of nowhere the Enmity leaps from a nearby tree and delivers a nasty haymaker to the first head, crushing its skull. Seeing its other half defeated the second head goes in for a bite but is stopped as the Enmity grabs the snake's fangs and tears them off before lodging them into the now defenseless King Taijitu's head.

Dolan: Yeah, you live up to your name of being hostility incarnate your crazy piece of shit!

As he analyzed the Grimm Dolan concluded that this was most defiantly an Alpha Enmity. This meant that this Grimm has seen many battles with both Grimm and probably huntsman alike. If there is one type of Grimm, you want to watch out for it was most definitely a Grimm that's seen its fair share of combat for even some of the most expert of huntsman and huntresses can sometimes fall prey to a Grimm if they mistakenly take it for granted.

After finishing its prey, the Enmity turns its head towards the sound spotting another target. Whether the creature could understand the human's words didn't matter only that it needed to see it die. Now completely facing Dolan the Creature roars to the heavens to signify its intent to kill. Little did the creature know that this wasn't a battle of man against Grimm but a grudge match between two Alpha Predators. One in the body of Grimm and the other in man.

As the two are about to clash Dolan thinks back on the words of his master of this particular Grimm's abilities. The first is that despite it not having armor cover its body like a Deathstalker, this thing is all muscle and that this Grimm's body was incredibly sturdy so cutting into it would be quite the chore with your average weapon. Second do not assume that it is slow because of its bulky frame, wrong the creature is immensely agile to the point if one isn't prepared for this then it will make predicting its attacks almost impossible and most certainly get you beaten to death by its assault. Next, the is that it can produce a short-range burst of red electricity by converting negativity into an actual source of power. Finally, the creature's 'trump card' as his master put it was that unlike other Grimm the Enmity grows in power the more you injure it making it hit harder as well as make its electric shock sting even harder too.

In short, this was not the type of Grimm you send a bunch of amateurs to fight, especially ones undertaking Beacon's Initiation Trial tomorrow lest you want to take the time to prepare body bags in advance.

The Enmity begins to bolt toward Dolan at alarming speed winding up for another haymaker to strike his head like the Grimm before him. Unfortunately, Dolan is prepared for it and effortlessly dodges to the side causing the creature to continue barreling down as if it was a train with no emergency brakes before it smashes into a large hill causing the rocks above to fall right on top of the beast. While it was indeed very fast for its size its turn radius left much to be desired and Dolan also knew better than to believe that something like falling debris would be enough to takeout that psychopath. As he waited for the beast to poke its ugly head out something flies out of the smoke and directly toward Dolan's face, luckily, he could see it coming and react to it in the nick of time by leaning backward to view a rock the size of Dolan's entire head fly by him and rip through the tree behind him. As the Enmity began to emerge from the smoke it was holding two bowling ball-sized boulders which it proceeds to hurl toward Dolan as well.

Dolan: Oh, so you like to toss shit around do you!? Ok, two can play that game bitch!!

While Dolan avoided the first boulder, he would position himself to catch the second boulder in midair and change its trajectory causing it to fly right back at the one that threw it hitting the Grimm directly in the face blocking its vision just long enough for Dolan to dash right up to the blinded beast and proceed to strike it with a 'lead hook' straight to its jaw sending the Enmity not only back into the hill but also through to the other side of it. Not wanting to waste time Dolan sprints towards the beast to attack only for it to roll around to the side get back on its feet with small red sparks arcing off the Grimm's body giving Dolan an indication of what was to happen next. The Enmity released a surge of electricity that covered the entire area within ten feet and just barely managed to nick Dolan's right arm. Seeing that he can't approach the creature while it's letting off steam the only option for Dolan was to back off until the electricity subsidies.

Once the Grimm finished its temper tantrum it proceeded to turn the other way and began to run. Seeing this Dolan gave chase after the beast to avoid letting it get away. As he was nearing the creature to strike the Enmity seeing this holds out its hand to latch onto a tree causing it to wrap around and get behind Dolan to hit him in his blind spot. Dolan was impressed, earlier the Grimm couldn't stop once it picked up speed so to avoid the same scenario it used the tree turn around while keeping its overall momentum to deliver its next attack. As the first is closing in, Dolan within seconds dodges the Grimm's attack and pulls out his swords which within seconds started to glow purple over the blades. He then slashes the creature's face with blinding speed leaving a massive scar. Roaring in agony the creature releases another burst of electricity and slams both hands to the ground creating a cloud of dust around the area. When it finally settled the Grimm was gone no doubt using the smokescreen to escape.

Dolan: Don't think you can get away from me you piece of sh-!

Just then a pack of Beowolves leaped out from the bushes and began to surround Dolan, no doubt feeling the sudden surge in his aura. Fun fact negativity wasn't the only thing that could draw Grimm's attention but also powerful auras meaning the more Dolan uses his aura-infused attacks the higher the chances that it would alert any nearby Grimm forcing him to deal with more combatants. Dolan knew very well that this may happen and tried to avoid using his aura excessively but at the same time, he knew if he didn't do this, he would be spending even more time just whittling the Enmity down with just standard attacks. All in all, this was becoming more of a headache.

-Meanwhile-

It has been several hours since Dolan began his hunt for the Enmity and now it was already nighttime. Glynda was completely absorbed in her work preparing for tomorrow. Breaking her out of her concentration she heard a knock at the door to her study. When the door opened Glynda's colleague and friend Professor Peach entered with a tray of Glynda's favorite tea in tow.

Peach: You should get some sleep. After all, you have a big day ahead of you if I'm not mistaken.

Glynda: Just as soon as I'm finished.

Peach: I bet if Dolan was here, he'd say-

Peach: *Ahem* The most gorgeous woman in all of Beacon needs her beauty sleep~! -She says in her best Dolan impersonation.

This caused a blush to appear on Glynda's face.

Glynda: That's a terrible impression.

Peach: But not inaccurate~!

Glynda: *Sigh*

Peach: Speaking of Dolan, he still hasn't called back yet?

Glynda: Not yet.

Peach: Aren't you worried?

Glynda: He'll be fine.

Peach: But it's already ten o clock and still no word from him? It's dark and he's all alone in the Emerald Forest.

Glynda: Don't worry while others may be hampered in the dark, Dolan on the other hand is at his best in it.

-Back in the Emerald Forest-

The time has come to bring this little game of 'Cat & Mouse' to an end. Dolan had concluded as to why the Enmity was engaging him for short intervals before backing off and leaving him to deal with the random Grimm that showed up. This was no doubt a variation of a strategy some huntsmen used on it in the past to slowly weaken it before going in for the kill and now the Enmity which has survived so many encounters has learned to incorporate this same tactic to finish off his human foe. At this point, the Enmity has suffered many injuries meaning not only was it close to death, but it was also at its strongest.

As Dolan looked around, he could tell he was probably in the deepest part of the Emerald Forest and that Grimm was more prominent in this part. He could feel eyes all around him, but he couldn't distinguish which one belonged to the Enmity which was a problem since it was so dark. He couldn't see as well in the dark...that's what the Grimm was hoping for at the very least. Finally, the Enmity leaped out to crush the huntsman and put him down for good but as it was about to smash the human with both its hands it soon found that something was stopping it from splatting him. Little did it know was that while it was hiding to land a sneak attack Dolan's eyes began to glow purple, and his shadow started to fluctuate before it expands and spread all over the area surrounding him so just as the Grimm was about to attack the shadow below it shot out of the ground and started to wrap around the beast's body completely rendering it helpless.

Now that the Enmity has revealed himself and was completely at his mercy the time to bring this hunt to its end was finally here. No more 'Cat & Mouse', no more stray Grimm to distract him, and certainly no chance in hell to survive this. The Enmity roared and thrashed around trying to escape from its entanglement but to no avail.

Dolan: To give credit where credit is due, at the very least you were more strategic than most Grimm. Unfortunately, that no longer matters now.

Dolan: Because now this is...

Dolan: Checkmate!!!

He poured his aura into his blade to increase its overall striking power while winding back his arm before unleashing a decisive slash strong enough to pass right through the Enmity's neck, completely decapitating it. As its body hits the ground with a massive thud Dolan could feel that the other Grimm that were nearby beginning to scatter probably due to seeing the Apex Predator of the Forest slain and did not want to challenge its killer.

With his task complete he texts his aunt and the headmaster sending only a single word to clarify that his mission was a success "Done".

-The Next Day-

The Initiation goes off without a hitch and finishes without any problems.

Ozpin: Russel Thrush, Cardin Winchester, Dove Bronzewing, and Sky Lark. The four of you have retrieved the Black Bishop pieces. From this day forward you will work together as Team CRDL. Led by Cardin Winchester.

Ozpin: Jaune Arc, Lie Ren, Pyrrha Nikos and Nora Valkyrie. The four of you have retrieved the White Rook pieces. From this day forward you will work together as Team JNPR. Led by Jaune Arc.

Jaune: NANI?!!!

Ozpin: And finally, Blake Belladonna, Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee, and Yang Xiao Long. The four of you retrieved the White Knight pieces. From this day forward you will work together as Team RWBY. Led by Ruby Rose.

As everyone applauds the first years, Dolan is in the stands on the second floor watching everything transpire.

Ozpin: Looks like things are shaping up to be an interesting year.

Dolan: (That's certainly one way to put it.)

Dolan: (So Team RWBY and Team JNPR...)

Dolan: This should be interesting.
