Life is a lot more tolerable now
How so?
For the next few days, she’s different. Not weak. Not submissive. Just… less of a raging tornado. She still rolls her eyes at you, still calls you an idiot, but the venom’s gone. The constant petty fights? Gone. Instead, she laughs a little more. Smiles when you make a joke. Even helps you with dinner once without being asked. It’s nice.
One night, you're sitting closer together on the couch. You talk like you haven't talked in god knows how long. She's even laughing at your dumb jokes. And when she catches you lingering on her outfit...
"You’re staring," she says, but there’s no venom in it.
You smirk. "Yeah. You look… good. For once."
She blushes - actually blushes - and says, "Shut up," but she’s smiling.
And that’s worse than screaming. Because now she’s likable. And you don’t know how to handle that.
