Chapter 4 by Impregmaniac Impregmaniac

What is the Question?

How did it begin?

"It has been seven years since our Charlotte, my former wife and Angela's mother, left this World in our old home. From an illness the physicians could not heal." Mr. Cooper's sigh was one of profound sadness. I know this, for I have spoken to many widowers before. I offered my condolences to them both. He took a shuddered breath and continued. "And once we had lain her to Rest, I, I was no longer myself. I feel no shame to tell you this sir, but for many nights, I cried myself to sleep."

"It was unbearable to see him in that way, sir," Mrs. Cooper piped in, running her thumb along her husband's knuckles. "After a half-year of my mother's passing, he had taken to drink. One night, I awoke in my bed to see him in my rooms, sitting upon a chair and looking at me, bottle in hand." Mr. Cooper looked downwards and shook his head. Again, I knew this was of shame. "I asked him what was the matter," Mrs. Cooper said, "And all he said was that I looked so much like her. As such, I took the bottle away from him and held him, telling him that I missed her as well. "And... when... did you... defy both God's and Man's law, Mr. Cooper?" I asked, haltingly.

The Coopers shared a look before Mrs. Cooper turned to me. "On the second anniversary of my mother's passing. I had come of age two, perhaps three months prior to that, and my father and I had already spent several nights in the same bed, but had not yet... known each other."

Mr. Cooper and I had the decency to clear our throats at that. "I have fond memories of those nights, Mr. Mckay," he admitted, a small half-smile coming upon his cheeks. "It must be said, that it was on those nights, where there were no tears to be shed. At first, it was merely a way to chase away the grief, but sorrow and loss turned familial love to that shared between Man and Woman. Which, ultimately, gave way to... physical love."

It is now upon me to confess. My curiosity was sated, but I found myself growing aroused at the anticipation of the tale of their inevitable consummation. I took another sip of coffee to distract myself, but upon catching the glimpses between the Coopers and the slight rosy glow growing upon Mrs. Cooper's cheeks, I could assume that they were of similar circumstances.

I asked them to...
