The Lords of Salt and Sea hoist their flags upon the mast of every Warship procured in shadowed trade, although the Lord-Vessels; captained by the Vaken Nobility slither, heavy and mighty on calm summer waters. The Orca of the Vaken was taken by the very first of their number Sinom "the Bad" Vaken, who above his brow bore a birthmark similar to his legendary cousins, The House of Bores. Although his was not tendriled as the Kraken, Bane of the Oceans, but the Killer-whale, round, circular and sinister.

A Mark carried by every Vaken down his not-so-noble line, Hence why after the Mutiny of their greater rulers, the Black Orca stalking through the sea, became their immortal Symbol.

House Vaken, or the Sea-Lord’s of the Southeast, are the Rulers of Rackham and proprietors of the Briton's infamous Tidal Fleet.

The Vaken, the Free House, raiders and pirates with the Blood of nobles, The Sealand hold is a powerful kingdom, being the Home of the Tidal Fleet, the greatest Naval **** in Britannia and though this fleet is an essential underlying of the Royal Army, the Tidal Fleet is ultimately commanded by the Sea-Lords, who are renown for their mastery of sailing.

The Vaken are a Sly bunch, generally going wherever the Gold takes them, leaving their loyalties in the richest, the richest always generally having been the Regis, though the Vaken has betrayed the Crown in the past.

Those born of the Free House often have a mane of dark Auburn hair, eyes like Oaken Bark, though the men of the Brood often have Thick Black beards. The Vaken have a rather unique family trait, one that generally sows upset if mentioned to their faces, that being the Brown birthmark on the left side of their face that resembles a whale, this encircles their left eye, left temple and left side of the forehead and by the god's pity the fool who dares insult the Vaken's mark.
