Horrible, Jamal is more qualified than she is. But there may be hope.

Alison leaves her wife's side and goes to talk to her new boss, previously she had applied for this position that had been vacant for 1 month but before Angela answered if she would be promoted she resigned for having his affair with Jamal exposed.
Now was the moment of truth, will this boss accept? She is super qualified for the position and has been here since she dropped out of college at age 24. Currently having 28.
When she arrives at Greg's table he is with his wife and as soon as he sees her he whispers something to the woman next to him and she leaves.
"I know what you're here for, you want to know about your promotion right? I got the news, but you weren't the only one to apply. And honestly it's not the best either, you had good schooling and stuff and that's good, but when it comes to qualification Jamal is ahead of you" he says it all at once and it leaves Alison shocked, how come Jamal is more qualified than her?

"I don't understand boss, I studied at Harvard, I got the best grades in my class and I'm still not more qualified than he is?" She pours out her frustration, she didn't mind losing her seat to anyone else but not Jamal, not the guy she hates, not the guy who had the nerve to harass her wife in front of everyone including herself. Why does this keep happening to her?
“You got the best grades in your class, but Jamal got the highest grades in the last 10 years. He got A in every subject and did a lot of work perfectly. But you still have a chance of course" says the boss
"Which?" Ask Alison
"You've been with the company longer, and you've proven to be reliable, are advantages for you, so I'll start a voting system for the next 3 days. Anonymously employees except you and Jamal will vote on who will be the deputy boss." He responds, something about it didn't feel right to you, something inside you said you had no chance of winning but you must accept it, they are rational and of course they will favor a leadership to friendship.
